Tallahassee, Fl. - New Leaf Market - 22 oz bomber - fire sale at $4.49 per. Deep dark chestnut brown pour with a tight of-white head that clings to the edge of the glass for a while. Aroma has a slight boozy hint to it, some soft creosote notes,a bit of brown sugar. Flavor is full-bodied with some brown sugar notes, a touch of molasses, some light chocolate and just a touch of bourbon-like booziness. Mouthfeel has a nice thick richness to it. Pretty solid - but glad I waited till they lowered it from $13.99 or whatever it was. Theydon_Bois (19845) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JAN 18, 2015

Clear dark amber with a small beige head, good lacing. Aroma of toasted malts and chocolate. Flavors of caramel, chocolate and molasses
On tap @ Widmer. Dark amber colored pour with a thin off-white head. Nose of spicy rum and ginger with a touch of chili powder. Lots of caramel, toasted wood, and vanilla. Maybe a little sugary...slight citrus marmalade along with some dark fruits. Certainly quite sweet on the tongue, but luckily not really cloying or syrupy. Rum adds a nice but subtle spice character that cuts the sugar character a bit. Pretty decent, actually.

Rated based on notes taken 27 Sep 2012 -- That’s a pretty dang tasty brew. Lots of deep dark sweetness that is accentuated by the barrel aging. Didn’t get much rum, but it was a smooth beer. jjgmd (2181) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - JUN 6, 2016

Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with an attractive beige head and a brown sugar aroma. There is a treacle and brown sugar flavor with a rum-like finish. It starts sweet, then turns bitter and slightly harsh. Interesting, but hard to drink a lot of this. ben4321 (6550) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - SEP 9, 2012

Aroma: The nose is chocolate and caramel malts, roast, some light smoke, and a little booze
Appearance: It pours a cloudy dark orange-brown color, with a beige head
Flavor: The taste is meidum sweet, malty, semi-sweet chocolate, and a mildly bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium-full, has a little bit of heat, and a soft-to-average carbonation
I enjoyed this one, and thought it was a nice attempt from Widmer. I agree with whomever categorized it as an American Strong, as it didn’t really feel like a classic Brown.
Smells of brown sugar, vanilla, rum spice, hint of cocoa. Tastes and feels a bit hot and thin.
