(22oz bomber thanks to mora2000) clear gold with no bubbles. Nose of bubblegum, grass, sweet, cotton candy, and sweet fruit. Taste of grass, cotton candy, sweet, bubblegum, just a really sweet, undercarbonated beer.

Bottle - Limited Release #5 Fall 2011. Pours orange-amber with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma is citrusy and herbal while retaining and pleasant sweetness along with soft grains. Taste is more on the sweet side with sweet malt, citrus, candied fruit (lemon drops), lemongrass, grains, herbal notes and soft alcohol. Body medium with a thin, creamy carbonation and slight warmth from the alcohol. Ends with more candied fruit (lemon drops), lemongrass, sweet malt, grains and alcohol. Deceivingly tasty for a 9% ABV beer. This is an easy drinker!

Babyfood pear aroma with hints of cayenne pepper. My son called it a really weird Texas Pete smell. Clear amber, headless. Whole overripe orange flavor with hints of sage. Lemongrass appears toward the end. Ends with a peppery bite, again like hot sauce. Full bodied, a bit too sweet. Im trying not to show a bias against Widmer and imagined this being another one of Dogfish Heads "off-centered ales", but I didnt find much enjoyment in it.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Off-white head with little retention recedes to hug rim and pool surface. Sweet white grape juice and lemon aromas. Thin with sweet wheat and grapes upfront turning to lemon in the lasting dusty finish.

On draft, pours a hazy golden orange color, aromas of wheat, citrus, booze, and corriander. Flavor is the same, real boozy in my book, not expecting this quality in a wheat beer.

Sampled on 12/3/2011. This wheat beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing. The aroma is cereal, Muscat grapes, fruit and sweet. A light to medium bodied wheat beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, with lots of Muscat grape flavor, there is a hint of lemongrass at the finish. The hops are herbal and earthy. Light carbonation. Interesting blend of flavors. I like the way the Muscat grapes mix and blend with the wheat/malts and the lemongrass. A touch of grape tannins at the finish. Overall it a touch sweet but it works. Hides the 9% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

22oz bottle in a lager glass. Pours light amber with a small head. Aroma of grapes, light lemongrass, light wheat, and light hops and malts. Flavor the same, with the grapes dominating. Average texture. A weird beer.

Sampled at Cajun Cafes 2011 Fall Beer Festival. Pours a mostly clear yellow-orange with a white head. Nose is lemony on the surface with some light grape notes under it and some sweet malt behind. Flavor is lemony at first followed by some mild sweetness and the light wheat behind. Interesting, the body is a bit thick for a wheat ale, but then it is a 9% wheat ale on top of that.

Strong, wheaty aroma has a decided overtone of lemon, and in some ways is more like a cider than a beer. Lemon cider? Lemon curry? OK, back to the review. It pours a pretty clear amber, but not much head. Crisp flavor has a malty core, strong fruity notes with grape dominating, and an overtone of lemon, rather sour but actually pleasantly so. From the lemongrass, I presume - distinctive and tasty. In addition, there is a subtle, bitter hoppy undertone. Sharp texture has good body and some fizz. Keep up the good work, Widmer Brothers! Your reserve beers may not be the absolute best, but they are distinctive and fun to try.
