Bomber from the Folsom BevMo. Pours hazy orange tinged gold with very little head. Grapey/grassy/floral aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is sort of gluey what with grape and grass. Quite unusual. It’s not hugely bitter, but much more so than sweet. This is either very simple or very complex. hayduke (5731) - Eureka, California, USA - JAN 3, 2012
This was a draft pour at the Sushi Bar in McCall, Idaho. I think you either like lemongrass or you do not. I kind of liked it. I came in the shaker glass a hazy yellow with a nice white head and a big nose of lemongrass. Remarkably full body for a wheat beer, and a smooth slick mouthfeel. Must be a lot of wheat in there. The flavor is somewhat sweet and as it moves into the finish you then get some bitterness for a nice bitter-sweet effect. Alcohol is well hidden. This went very well with the sushi. halfonit (1412) - Fall River, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 7, 2012
Pours a deep golden color. Aroma is of lemongrass, wheat, malt, and some citrus. Flavor is the same with the citrus really coming through in the finish. Leaves a nice and sweeter citrus finish. Good one! djd07 (16289) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 13, 2012
Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head. The aroma is citrus and grape. Thin mouthfeel with a strong lemon and citrus with light sour finish. Easy to drink a good brew from Widmer. Cybercat (6335) - Georgia, USA - JUN 13, 2012
Strong, wheaty aroma has a decided overtone of lemon, and in some ways is more like a cider than a beer. Lemon cider? Lemon curry? OK, back to the review. It pours a pretty clear amber, but not much head. Crisp flavor has a malty core, strong fruity notes with grape dominating, and an overtone of lemon, rather sour but actually pleasantly so. From the lemongrass, I presume - distinctive and tasty. In addition, there is a subtle, bitter hoppy undertone. Sharp texture has good body and some fizz. Keep up the good work, Widmer Brothers! Your reserve beers may not be the absolute best, but they are distinctive and fun to try.

Bottle - Limited Release #5 Fall 2011. Pours orange-amber with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma is citrusy and herbal while retaining and pleasant sweetness along with soft grains. Taste is more on the sweet side with sweet malt, citrus, candied fruit (lemon drops), lemongrass, grains, herbal notes and soft alcohol. Body medium with a thin, creamy carbonation and slight warmth from the alcohol. Ends with more candied fruit (lemon drops), lemongrass, sweet malt, grains and alcohol. Deceivingly tasty for a 9% ABV beer. This is an easy drinker! high_on_hops (809) - Burlingame, California, USA - FEB 16, 2012
A nice gold color with a small white head that quickly fades. The aroma has some malt and wheat with an interesting note from the muscat grapes and maybe the lemongrass. The flavor has the malt and wheat up front with the grapes providing a sweet background and aftertaste.

I had this on draft at Out of the Park Pizza in Anaheim Hills, CA. This wheat beer has a nice lemon flavor and would make it a good refreshing drink on a hot day. marcus (10867) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Bottle from Beer Revolution. Pours dark amber with an attractive beige head and a fruit and toffee aroma. There is a strange sweet fruit flavor that includes banana, grape and lemon with a dry slightly bitter finish. illinismitty (2377) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 30, 2011
Bottle from Whole Foods Alexandria. Pours orange with a white head that dissipates to nothing. Aroma of wheat malts and white wine. Medium bodied with a slight syrupy texture. Flavor of pale wheat malts with moderate notes of chardonnay and lemon grass. Tamed herbal bitterness. Not bad, but I would love to get more lemongrass, and perhaps less body and more dryness.
