An extremely rich and complex beer. The addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

My Bottom Line:
This liquid dessert juxtaposes sweet chocolate, raspberry jam and cough syrup in a thick mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the brown-hued black.
-The cougy syrup allusions are too medicinal to my liking.
-Alcohol heat is prominent.
-The flavour profile is tad rough.
-This is too sweet for me to truly enjoy it, but it will have be appreciated by those in the mood for sugar and decadence.

Dark brown, with hints of orange when held to the light. color with a moderately sized tan head. Caramel to toasted malt scents. Some light fruit, but not really any raspberry detected. Sweeter start, leading to some roasted malt. Ashy middle. Bit of a burn in the back of the throat. Raspberries come out in the finish and linger along with more roasted malt and dark chocolate. 3/12

2013 edition. Pours deep red - decidedly not black for an RIS. Good head. Aroma of chocolate, raspberry, molasses. Taste is similar. The raspberry really stands out, and is quite pleasant. Lots of chocolate in the finish, too. Doesn’t have the overwhelming sensory blast of a typical RIS, but I’m happy about that, it lets the raspberry stand out. Glad I drank it.

2012 bottle. Kinda disappointed - thought it would taste better after aging it for so long. Still plenty of raspberry tartness

Bottle shared during the November THT tasting at deanso’s place. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of raspberry fruityness in there. Taste is very sweet and medium bitter with a nice subtle raspberry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Bottle shared at the November THT at deanso’s place. Pitch black with a thin tan head. Notes of chocolate, raspberries, cocoa, roasted malts and some perfumey components. Nice, but the flavor feels a bit artificial.

sjogro (4263) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - NOV 25, 2016
Sampled from bottle at "This is not really deanso’s last THT"-tasting. Big deep roasted malts and some fruity notes. Medium body soft carbonation.

Benzai (15937) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - NOV 25, 2016
Sampled from bottle @ Benzai’s final THT although MrHangover thinks it’s something else. Brownish color, small off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, malt bitter, dark malt, very bitter, some raspberry. Ok.
