With Z, pours a deep mahogany brown pour with no poor. Nose is chocolate, cinnamon and peppery. Taste is full of chocolate and punctuated by spicy peppery nutty notes. Beer is heavy but smooth and velvety. Finishes on the same tasting notes with a sweet ending. Quaff Score 8 / 10 zgaier (1962) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - OCT 26, 2014

Poured from 22 oz. bottle after cellaring for a bit over 2 years.
Near black with a slight ruby tinge, a thin tan head and good lacing.
Aroma of plums, dark fruit, pecans, chocolate, raspberries, caramel and licorice.
Taste of roasted malt, dark fruit, chipotle peppers, raspberries, chocolate, licorice and caramel.
Medium/full body and medium/high carbonization.
A very complex and delicious beer that clearly appreciated the aging. The chilies add interest without overwhelming.

"A nice brown/porter looking brew that is just a tiny bit behind the really awesome spiced stouts if you will (ie-chocolate sombrero). Pecans are at once a nice touch and a deterrent, causing the flavor to be a touch too sweet. Chili and cinnamon and chocolate really comes out as the beer warms. I’d get far more often if not so expensive." Frahmo (316) - Idaho, USA - AUG 25, 2014
Mahogany pour with a fading tan head. Chocolate and sugary aroma. Nutty flavor with a nice smooth flavor. Chili’s not evident in older bottle from 2012, but evident in fresh bottle. Decent, but not worth having again. pdx77 (1483) - Oregon, USA - JUL 26, 2014
On draught during the 4th Annual Fire & Brimstone Festival at Hop & Vine. Deep brownish-hued black. Aroma is molasses, pecan, cinnamon, and sticky sweet caramel. Taste is similar, but it has a touch of chili heat. Sticky sweet finish. thornecb (5992) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 3, 2014
Pours mahogany into a snifter. Tan head with little retention recedes to nothing. Pecan and cocoa aromas. Thick with dark caramel. Thin with dark caramel, pecan and cocoa upfront turning to a warming chili finish.
