22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/8/2012. Pours slightly hazy very dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, toast, light roast, chile pepper, clove, cinnamon, herbal, brown bread, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, cocoa, and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, toast, brown bread, light roast, clove, light chile, light nuttiness, light cinnamon, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Zero bitterness and minimal pepper heat on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, toast, light roast, brown bread, light nuttiness, light chile, light cinnamon, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of dark/bready malt flavors with moderate cocoa and light spice/chile notes; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced strong ale. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malts, cocoa nib, and light spice/chile flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. With Z, pours a deep mahogany brown pour with no poor. Nose is chocolate, cinnamon and peppery. Taste is full of chocolate and punctuated by spicy peppery nutty notes. 22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Dark brownish black with with half a finger of quick fading light tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, dark fruit, caramel. Tastes of dark and milk chocolate, caramel, maple roasted pecans, a hint of hot pepper towards the end. Medium body with a dry finish. Draft with Linh at pony bar. Pours A deep brownish amber body with thin brown lacing. Aroma is pepper, spice and sweet fruit. Mouthfeel is full and creamy with notes of chocolate, spice, creamy buttery nuts, cinnamon and light pepper.

Bottle: Deep brown, nearly black, thin dirty off-white head, sudsy, little lacing. Spicy nose of candied nuts, cocoa, sweet peppers, and cinnamon. Smells very entertaining! Very much a spicy chocolate type of brew on the tongue, some pepper (minus the heat) with some cinnamon spiciness. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Very unique, and like it says, south meets northwest. Bomber, probably from BevMo or Total Wine. Pours very dark brown with a slight fizzy tan head - didn’t last long. Aroma is chilies for me. Mild over a hint of chocolate. Near full bodied. Flavor is very chilies, but the toasted pecans are very noticeable. So where’s the chocolate? Gotta lose the pecans first. Where’s the cinnamon? Probably lost in the chilies. Pretty different beer. Sample at World Of Beer. Pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roasted nuts, chocolate and spice. On tap at Whole Foods, Santa Rosa taproom. I am a chile fan so I enjoyed this. Lots of heat in the finish. Creamy. Roasty aroma.
