COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our brewers added fresh whole vanilla beans to a few select barrels of our Barrel-Aged Brrrbon ’13, an imperial version of our Brrr Seasonal Ale aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, for this limited edition brew. The addition of vanilla beans heightens the vanilla character imparted by the barrels, and adds a delicious layer of complexity to the beer’s oak and caramel character, making for a smooth warmer perfect for the season.

MALTS: Pale, Caramel, Carapils, Dark Chocolate
HOPS: Alchemy, Simcoe, Cascade

Golden-amber. Not much head. Sweetish, bubblegummy nose. On the palate it’s very sweet with some nice brown sugar notes and a touch of vanilla. Decent.

Waxed bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours translucent dark copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon and heavy malt. Med + body. Flavor is a little alcohol, vanilla, roasty malt, bourbon, astringent wood. Strong and flavorful stuff. Finishes pretty much toward woody and dry. It is just a little "rough".

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a muddy/murky amberish-brown color with a small sized off white head. Bourbon, woody, vanilla, and some dark fruits. More bourbon than vanilla, although the vanilla was there.

"I’m not sure the vanilla imparted by the barrels NEEDED to be heightened. Kinda like the vanilla BCS in my mind. Not bad, just not neccesary. Tasty, but if anything takes away a tad of complexity from the non-vanilla version(s)."

Bomber ONLY from Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting circa 4Q 2013 and roughly $10.00. Pours hazy dark brown with balanced vanilla, roast dark malts, cacao, and a balanced finish. This was better than the ginger, and a beer I wish I had more of.

Taster at Jungle Jim’s Barrel-Aged Beer Bash 2015. Mildly hazy orange amber color. Thin off-white kind of bubbly head, few bits of lace. Bigger citrusy hop up front in the nose, that’s kind of surprising. West-coast DIPA level of citrusy hop, kind of piney and spicy, wasn’t expecting that at all. Just a touch of vanilla on the backend, more noticeable as it warms. Bigger bitterness, mild to moderate sweet taste, kind of dry. Bigger body. Kind of soft tingly sort of crisp lighter carbonation, light slick mouthfeel but drying in the finish. Interesting stuff. Surprisingly hoppy, especially for a 2013 vintage (indicated). Reminds me of some ba’d DIPAs I’ve tried. Would have probably gotten better if I gave it time to warm.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a dark cream head. Caramel and light bourbon aroma. Bourbon and vanilla flavor. Medium bodied. Vanilla and light oak linger with bourbon and rich malt.
