COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our brewers added fresh whole vanilla beans to a few select barrels of our Barrel-Aged Brrrbon ’13, an imperial version of our Brrr Seasonal Ale aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, for this limited edition brew. The addition of vanilla beans heightens the vanilla character imparted by the barrels, and adds a delicious layer of complexity to the beer’s oak and caramel character, making for a smooth warmer perfect for the season.

MALTS: Pale, Caramel, Carapils, Dark Chocolate
HOPS: Alchemy, Simcoe, Cascade

With Z, pours a brown birch colored color with a small head. Nose is full of bourbon with vanilla in the background. Taste is very smooth with nice sweet bourbon notes mixed with vanilla bean and oak. Finish is very smooth, sweet and ends on the same tasting notes with a moderately long finish. Quaff Score 8 / 10

Arayaga2 (2221) - portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 31, 2013
Rusty red with a thin brown head. Aroma is all bourbon and vanilla, and taste is similarly heavy, and boozy. It’s kind of one-note, and could stand to be a bit smoother, with less biting tannin in the finish, but it’s still good. $11/22 first PDX NYE

Shared at GregFest 2013 from a cool-looking, wax-dipped, big brown bomber into a nonic half pint glass, thanks Carter! It poured a hazy copper colour with persistent beige foam and some Belgian lace. More vanilla and bourbon barrel characteristics in the aroma than flavour. Medium-heavy body, average carbonation, mouthfeel a little slick, some lasting residual sweetness. Not sure what the base style is supposed to be here, but it’s a fairly well-balanced strong amber ale overall.

A very good variation on their bourbon barrel beer. Pours a muddy brown with little head. Smells of vanilla and bourbon. Taste is bourbon and vanilla upfront, with some mint and a slightly empty finish. A lot upfront, not as much in the backend. Had in the bottle at Piachi Pub and Pizzaria.

zgaier (1964) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 22, 2015
Pours a muddy copper brown with a tan head and sweet aroma of bourbon and slight vanilla. Taste is smooth, nice strong bourbon notes with vanilla, caramel, and oak into the warming finish.

kathouse (1940) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JAN 18, 2014
Pretty amber color with nice off white head. Oak and vanilla aromas mask a malty base. Caramel malts, oak, and alcohol mix is satisfying yet not quite ecstasy.

On draught at Bailey’s Taproom. Clear brownish amber color. Aroma is citrus hops and bourbon. Taste is fresh vanilla bean, citrus and tropical hops, bourbon, and caramel. Hoppy and sweet are pretty balanced.
