Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours slightly hazy burnt orange color with off white head. Aromas of grapefruit rind with some breadiness. Slightly bitter grapefruit flavor with a touch of caramel sweetness. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks Craig. Duhast500 (414) - Cumberland, Rhode Island, USA - OCT 19, 2011
Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Sierra Nevada Pint glass.
The color is a clear copper-amber with a finger of foamy off-white head and some nice lacing left on the glass.
The smell has some nice earthy hoppy aroma with some
The taste is pretty hoppy at first with some earthy notes that hold a good sized bitterness that also a good sized malt presence as well. The hits with a taste of piney hops at the end and makes this comes back to the bitterness.
The feel of this beer is medium bodied and has a nice drinkable feel to a beer that has a good amount of hops. It does have a smooth side and it make this beer surprising in how well this drinks.

Bottle. Nice looker, but I didn’t get much aroma out of it. The selling point is the hop variety, and these are fruity, or perhaps even candy like, without being sweet. Some fairly aggressive bitterness to this ale as well. I’m glad Widmer is trying new hops rather than the usual Cascade, Centennials, et. al., although I don’t love this IPA. Tap at McGintey’s in Silver Spring. Pours a deeper amber with not much head. Nose is malty, earthy, poopy. Taste is very malty, nutty bitter, big grapefruit pith. Earthy, dirty, raw. Heavier mouthfeel. A little harsh. Nut shells, peanuts come across through nutty hoppiness. Not bad. robgibbens (432) - Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA - OCT 13, 2011
Nice amber color with a decent head. Not a lot of lacing. Mild citrusy aroma. Mildly bitter too. Sweet aftertaste and slick, oily finish. Pleasant but nothing noteworthy.

Bottle. cloudy orange/yellow color, little to no head, minimal lacing. Nose is nice, floral, hopy, but a bit weak. Nice clean attack and finish. Good beer. cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - OCT 10, 2011
12 oz. bottle from Total Wine - Pours a clear copper color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head. light tiny spotted lacing. Flavor is floral and citrus hops with fruity esters. Aroma is pretty much the same. There is a little malt sweetness lingering in the finish. Medium body. Clean. A very nice Widmer beer. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - OCT 7, 2011
Bottle:   Fiery amber, lively carbonation, large fluffy white head, very nice lacing.   Citrus rind, pith, and some faint grapefruit like hop notes on the nose.   Fairly strong grapefruit like hoppiness up front.   Light sweetness, mild bitterness.   Has a mild earthy malt background.   Very smooth overall, decent malt base.   Could stand to be a bit brighter tho, more floral or citrusy sweet.   As it warms I get a bit of alcohol on the nose.   Yeah, flavorwise its there but its a little dull and muted.   Needs to be brighter for sure.   Lingering grapefruit pith and soft earthen malts. bb (9789) - Alamo, California, USA - OCT 7, 2011
Bottle. Rich amber beer with a cream colored head. Grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and light pine flavor with light caramel. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Grapefruit and light caramel lingers with light earth. kidmartinek (5007) - austin, Texas, USA - OCT 6, 2011
Apricot color, a hazy hue, pouring with a 2 inch sandy head. Piny cirrhosis hop aroma. The flavor is mellow and deliciously hoppy with a nice malt backbone. Yoyo can’t drink a lot of this one though but it always satisfies the palate. Cheers widmer. I don’t care what anyone says y’all can brew good beers, except for that hefeweizen.
