3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy bronze color with quick diminshing white head. Caramel/whiskey aroma. Taste is bisquity, rye, whiskey and caramel malt. A healthy dose of floral grassy hops. A solid IPA.
I’m not sure if they were trying to make this a Rye IPa or what. Overall, so-so.

Didn’t care for this one. Started off average and got worse. Spicy aroma nice enough but there’s not much to it. Too bland. Clear Amber. Flavor less boring but still boring. Thinking there may be a little age, but they don’t date." Darkmagus82 (2303) - - AUG 26, 2014

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance –Pours a deep amber color with a thick and persistent just off white head. The head lingers on for quite some time fading slowly to leave a great level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is very light. It consists of a bit of bready smells mixed with some caramel and a lighter hop smell.
Taste – The taste begins of rye bread with notes of caramel sweetness. Some citrus grapefruit hop is present up front, which ends up getting stronger as the taste moves on further. An earthy bitter flavor also comes to the tongue more toward the middle of the taste. These hops remains till the end where a smooth rye and citrus/earthy bitter flavor is left on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is a little on the thicker and more syrupy side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. Both are pretty nice for the bready flavors of the brew as well as for giving all the hoppy flavors a chance to be sensed well by the tongue.
Overall – A pretty easy to drink IPA. A nice blend of rye and hop (although a slightly more hopped taste up front and at the end may have been slightly more appeasing to the rye flavor). troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2014
[Bottle] Copper pour with little head, but decent lacing on the glass. Spicy rye malt and bitter hop aromas. Taste is heavy on rye, grassy hops, paper/oxidation, caramel and black tea. A bit muddled, but the rye comes through pretty well. Tasting notes from 2012. bmacuc (10) - - MAR 13, 2014
2013: Subtle rye flavor, not overly complex, medium hoppiness, initial hop bite up front washed away by malt backbone.

Bottle pours a medium amber. Quite a bit of sediment clouded it up on the pour. Motley maly aroma, a bit of hop bite. Fairly bitter and the hop flavors were muted and seemed not fresh. MOstly greassy and woody. Not great kramer (6905) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Tap. Pours a clear dark copper body under a small frothy beige head. The nose is citrusy hops over a caramel and spicy rye malt base. The flavor has a really nice amount of rye malt and a restrained caramel sweetness. Reminds me of a nice rye bread. The hops are just lightly bitter with some citrus notes. Lingering spicy rye finish. Medium bodied with very tight prickly carbonation. Decent stuff, above average for a Widmer product. jkwalking05 (4745) - Arlington, Texas, USA - DEC 31, 2013
(Backlog) 12 oz bottle. Amber color, very clear, melted butter colored head. The smell is rye, slight perfume, hops, citrus, grass, and pine. The taste is hops, decent bitterness, rye, chalky, and ok. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - NOV 18, 2013

Had on tap a couple times, and it was great. Let’s see how’s it’s holding up.
Pours a amber ale with a finger of white foam which falls to a sheet of the same leaving a spotty lace. Lots of grapefruit on this one with some tangerine; a really nice nose here. I like the fruit play. Some bitterness up front then followed closely with a sweet, english maltiness and some tea like hop flavors alongside the tangerine mentioned earlier. Nice flavor, not nearly as nice as the nose. Medium bodied with light carb an a semi dry finish.
This is a good beer, and I would gladly buy again next year if they offered it up.
Had again march 2013, new score reflects that experience. DuffMan (10665) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 11, 2013
Bottle. Bright copper-orange, crystal clear, medium white head. Lovely grapefruit hops aroma, very bright (even though I am certain this is nowhere near the bottled-on date). Zesty pink grapefruit hop flavour, underlying caramel malt, barely detectable rye spiciness. A really tasty IPA, rye or otherwise.
