This beer is not for everyone. At the first taste your taste buds are surprised by the distinctive grapefruit undertones. Your first impression is "Is this beer good?" You wait take another sip and think "Yes, this is good" Wait a day and drink another Shaddock you will be amazed by the complexity of the beer and the hint of citrus after taste or you don’t really care for grapefruit and a more bitter tone and feel it is just a good beer. For me it is a great beer! Love it! I tip my beer keg to the Widmer Brothers Brewing staff. Just wish it wasn’t on the Rotator Rotation and a beer you could get any time. cmkbaca (8) - Amarillo, Texas, USA - AUG 30, 2012 does not count
slightly piney, very bitter, strong citrus taste. This is IPA at its best. This is in my top 3 IPA’s, and I am an IPA snob. being a snob I won’t look this horse in the mouth, just know that It is a great beer good example of the style. steelers (35) - Minnesota, USA - AUG 8, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2012 So it is warmer out today then the last time I rated this beer. Still enjoy it and will buy it again. Poured into a glass slighty cloudy, orange-yellow. First smell is grapefruit, pine and citrus. Tasting hops and grapefruit with some grassy notes and spiec. Very refreshing. Still loving it. scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - MAY 29, 2012
Full grapefruit nose of juice and zest, very dominating and welcomed. Clean bright gold, fluffy cottony head. Pithy bitterness up front, deepens into floral rind and fresh squeezed juice and finishes with those beautiful Citra hops. Tailored for me. Maltajo (330) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - DEC 1, 2012
12 oz Bottle at Memphis Meis in Ossining NY.
Nice deep golden pour with a fluffy head. Hops, Grapfruit and pine with just a hint of Cinnimon keep this beer highly refreshing while eating NY BBQ.
