3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma: Hard to describe accurately, Notes of hops and grain with a verity of spices. Almost like a coffee shop that also sells craft beer
Appearance: Pale orange, very clear snow white head
Taste: unique but still very grounded. A typical balanced IPA with varying spice notes.
Overall: I may give this a tad to much credit, but it is well mad and has charter
Cardamom, ginger, sweet cinnamon... clove? I have a Chai a few times a year in the colder months, and this nose could fit in with a lesser Chai.
Flavor has hints of tannic qualities that I associate with black tea.. but the spices are the only big player.. not getting anything in the way of hops... floral ginger note probably knock them out.. The sweet spices accentuate a background maltiness... finish knocks off very quickly leaving pretty much only cardamom..
Seems sorta thick for an IPA ... any light ale really .. carbonation is about right but the thick body accentuates everything that I don’t like... the sweet spices, methol cardamom, etc. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - NOV 11, 2015
From 2013: aroma light in the hip department w moderate holiday spices. Thin to medium bodies. Flavor works better than expected. zach8270 (4021) - Henrietta, New York, USA - MAR 8, 2015
(bottle - 12 oz) Clear gold with a fluffy white head. Heavily spiced aroma. Lots of cardamom and clove, almost pumpkin pie like. Flavor is a lot of those same spices. Definitely get the ginger, cardamom, clove and cinnamon. Very light hops coming up at the end. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - DEC 16, 2013
Pours a clear golden ale with a finger of white foam that leaves behind nice legs of lace. Smells nice - tropical, lemony with just a hint of "spice" - the tea is a nice addition. The flavor is more spicy than the nose with a certain mulled character and quite dry malt profile. The hops are a little over powered by the adjuncts and the flavor, although pleasant is ill balanced for the ingredients IMO. Medium on thin bodied with moderate carb. Semi dry finish. I think this is an interesting approach to an IPA. I think toning down the "spice" in the beer and adding just a hint of honey malt would certainly bring it together.
Serving type: bottle

Bottle, nearly a gusher. Sneaked it in to the glass and still got a nice sandy dense head. Hazy dark orange/amber. Lots of floral spice. Dry and bitter. A bit too weird.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium fizzy white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, spice and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, peaches and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy and spicy aftertaste. Decent overall. mnmike (1091) - Minnesota, USA - APR 24, 2013

2/21/12 notes: bottle. Pours a light orange-gold, perfectly clear with a bit of a small white head. Aroma has strong notes of tropical fruit, lemon pith and subtle tangerine. Flavor is bright hops upfront, a bit of dried tea leaves, pretty subtle. Sweetens with some saltine cracker and finishes with a clean smack of bitterness. Fun stuff, though spicing could be more dramatic. brandon1989 (712) - Lewisville, Texas, USA - FEB 26, 2013
from notes: pours copper with some slight hazziness and a slightly off white head. the aroma is banana, cloves, banana bread, pumpkin spice. the taste is pumpkin spice. slight banana clove, not very biter and the alcohol is very hidden. fruity but not sweet. this is a very good beer!! From tap. Orange color, with 1 finger head that sticks around for a while. Floral nose (not strong). Hops very present, along with some spices (maybe a touch of nutmeg?) along with a bitter finish. Ok.
