Wow, you can really smell the spices in this one! Strong scents of cardamom, clove and other holiday spices in a very pleasing mix. Slightly hazy medium golden yellow with a small off-white head. All those spices come rushing at you on the first sip, but they aren’t overwhelming or out of balance. Really nice dry, peppery, herbal mix of flavors with just enough sweetness to support them without wiping them out or letting them get out of control. I’m sure there are some hops hiding in there, but they blend right in with all the other spices. Finishes dry with a lasting flavor of the same. It’s like Christmas in a bottle! Wish I’d had this one for the holidays even though this would be good all year round. Compares favorably with Saison du Buff and would go well with food. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - JUL 5, 2012
Sampled on 7/5/12. This IPA pours a slightly hazy orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is fruity and sweet, spicy and hoppy. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and orange peel. The hops are grapefruity and piney. The spices and there are lots of them, Malty Assam Black Tea, Ginger, Cinnamon, Clove, Star Anise, Black Pepper, and Cardamom, really mix well with the hops. I keep picking up something slightly different each sip. Good carbonation. I have really enjoyed this series of beer. Some more would be nice. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 21, 2012
Bottle... Poured golden hue with a white head. Nose hod some freshly hopped, earthy and herbal tones. Hints of ginger, pepper-spice (sort of like sage), and tea. The anise was the one spice I didn’t really detect. But cinnamon, clove, ginger, tea leaves, and hop flavors were all present. Surprisingly Widmer pulled it off without it being a muddled mess. Low bitterness, spicy, mild malt for balance. Pretty nice drinking beer. Oscbert (1319) - Lincoln, California, USA - MAR 3, 2012
~Peppery, earthy, flowery, spicy ginger, tea and light smoke in aroma.
~Pours clear gold color with lasting fluffy white head. Good lacing.
~Lot of spice also in flavor, reminds me of xmas. I get pine needles, ginger, black pepper and grapefruit balanced with a pretty sweet tasting malt.
~Med full bodied with med CO2, a bit chalky, lasting spicy finish.
~Very interesting brew. I enjoyed the mixture of spices. It is a bit cloying on the sweet side, but not too bad. Would only want to drink one of these before moving onto something else. paultheguru (644) - Parker, Colorado, USA - MAR 21, 2012
Nice tea and spice flavor...mostly clove and nutmeg. Great Ipa characteristics...pine hop notes, bright vibrant color. Impressive for Widmer.

This should be thought of as a Christmas beer with all of the spices in the aroma. The flavor has a nice hoppy bite that balances the spices nicely. At first whiff, I thought I would not be a fan of this brew but after a few sips, I came over to the spiced side. Nice peppery feel leaves a dry and refreshing finish. hopasaurus_rex (109) - Surprise, Arizona, USA - MAR 27, 2012
Pours a nice golden orange. Aromas of clove, ginger, cinnamon, tea, hops and slight malt. Initial taste is smooth, and gets a nice spiciness from the ginger. The clove really comes out up front along with the tea leaves and cinnamon. There is a nice spicy bite from the ginger that just sits on your tongue. Interesting. Mouthfeel is nice. Smooth. Not too oily or sticky. Doesn’t much seem like an IPA...more like a pale in my opinion. A solid and different beer nonetheless. Worth trying. Wittales (762) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAY 7, 2012
Appearance was clear copper gold with creamy lasting huge 3 finger white head, lacing. Aromas where sweet malt with loads of spice ie. pepper, ginger , cloves with soft citrusy hops breaking in too , no alcohol present. Taste was lemony hops, spicey clove ginger with anise or cinnamon.Solid mild malts backbone. Palate was smooth creamy carbonation with medium body and average length spicey hoppy caulky finish. Different, I like it... AWISLguy (3283) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 5, 2012
Bottle from my bro - thanks ck1! Pours a very clear orangewith a white head. Nice lacing. I completely flunked the aroma test, not knowing any of the "ingredients" ahead of time. A thick, somewhat sweet spice and perhaps some caramel. I completely get ginseng and cardamon after KNOWING they were in the makeup. Nice aroma. Taste is of tea and sweet spices, with a definite malt presence although dialed back a bit. Syrupy and thick. Finishes with bitterness that is not very present otherwise. Probably an ipa over a spice beer. I enjoyed it. Reid (2610) - Salem, Oregon, USA - MAR 12, 2012

Clear, bright golden hued ale with a large thick and frothy white head.
Aroma mostly spicy, sprucelike hops with a touch of pepper and leaf black tea.
Taste intresting combo of the piney hop, black tea and a peppery ginger..cinnamon appears well after the sip is down the gullet.
Nice pallet//loved the long lasting after tastes.
I really enjoyed this one from Widmer..well done and unusual
