In bottle at Craig’s. Pours a golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, grapefruit, pine, pineapple and alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Mildly bitter. Nice. mjg74 (3238) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 9, 2012
Bottle from BevMo. Golden in color with some orange. Nice nose of hoppy grapefruit. Dry and a little spiced at first. Trails off into a bit of fruitiness, maybe something tropical. A bit of sweetness, finishing with a dry, sharp grapefruit peel taste. My bottles were 6.2% ABV. benpickens (552) - Camarillo, California, USA - OCT 2, 2012
Light in color for American IPA; small light frothy white head: syrupy grapefruit aromas; like biting into a grapefruit. Interesting and unique.

Widmer Brothers Rotator Series Shaddock IPA - Orange-gold with small-ish head and very little lacing. Unmistakable fresh grapefruit aroma - great citrus smell that’s thankfully not also overloaded with pine as some grapefruity IPAs tend to be. Taste is also big grapefruit with some mellow malt coming through in the finish. While pretty one-dimensional, it does nail the grapefruit dimension well. Grapefruit additions to an IPA may seem superfluous, but the effect is deafening. Hazy orange-yellow. Straight, chalky bitter like a raw, underripe grapefruit. Okay malt contrast as well. A harsh take on IPA’s even if not the bitterest.

Another nice ipa from the Wider brothers. Nice citrus and grapefruit. Full bodied. More good stuff.

I get like a piney hoppy aroma with this golden slightly hazy brew. Not much head. At first i get a piney fruity sweet taste followed bybitterness almost a dry flavor. The bitterness lingers. Its a medium light body that tastes better as the brew goes on. Since this brewery got rid of broken halo...this is nowhere near it but itll do. On tap at the Flying Saucer in Little Rock, AR. Pours a crystal clear golden colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is bigger grapefruit peels with a medium pine resin. Light grassy notes with a lightly sweetened, biscuity malt backing. Touches of toast and a decent amount of fruit cocktail fruits. Flavor is similar. Grapefruit and citrus peels up front with a few fruit cocktail fruits, a light grass and a moderate pine resin, and a lightly sweetened biscuity malt backing. Finishes dry with a medium bitterness, some citrus sweetness, a light toast note, and a few resins. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a solid IPA. A bit thin feeling, but well hopped and balanced with a light malt backing. Not bad. JaBier (8490) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - SEP 26, 2012
Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine on 9/11/12. Clear gold pour with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma with light citrus and floral hops. Malty flavor with orange peel and floral hop character before a grapefruit finish. DuffMan (10983) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 23, 2012
Bottle. Widmer Bros. brews have been hit and miss with me, so I’m not sure about this one. Looks nice enough: light orange amber, decent white head, good retention. Aroma is lovely perfumey citrus rind with underlying sweet malts. Nice bold grapefruit hop flavour, nice balancing malts, solid bitter finish. This one’s a winner with me.
