Poured a cloudy gold with white head and good lacing. Nose of citrus hops and caramel malts. Rich and smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is nicely bitter and there is pine in the finish. Not the best IPA ever, but for sure drinkable. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 10, 2006
This is not the most exciting IPA I have ever tasted. Big on the hops and not alot of attention to detail when it comes to flavor and have a strong malt background. Lots of fruit and citrus with a chalky bitter finish. oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 13, 2005
Pours a medium hazy golden yellow. Aromas of citrus hops and a touch of pale malts. Flavor is crisp bitter citrus hop with a nice lingering aftertaste.

Probably my favorite Widmer at the moment. Has a nice fruity nose to it, and pours with a nice head. Coloring is the standard Widmer haze. Crit (4039) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 11, 2005

On tap 2005. Hazy gold colour with thin lasting frothy head. Strong citric hoppy nose. Bitter grapefruit taste with lingering bitter hop finish. ClarkVV (6825) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 21, 2005
On draught 2005 at Redbones. Pours a pretty lucid yellow. No head, clear, lightly bubbly. Aroma of dusty leaves, some hints of citrus, pale malt. Flavor is all leafy, dry, earthy hops. That’s about the extent of the flavor. Little to no malt presence. No yeast. Argh. Maybe I’m just in a shitty mood because the last 4 beers I had at Redbones have been complete shit. If that’s the case, Mr. Widmer IPA, I’m sorry and I will certainly rerate you. But for now, you sure seem like a regular American IPA gone bad. No balance, no complexity. (12 oz bottle: Cost Plus in La Jolla, CA) Man, this is one bland and boring IPA. There’s nothing in the flavor that is at all noteworthy here. It’s somewhat malty, balanced by a moderately bitter, citrusy hoppiness, and a slight smokiness seems to come out in the finish, but this really tastes like a generic IPA from a generic brewpub. The nose seems a bit more malty than the flavor, but the hops is rather light, which I guess is why the malt is in the foregroung. Somewhat crisp and clean on the palate. Dark yellow color and fairly cloudy in appearance. Small whitish head quickly settles to a sheen, but manages to produce a moth-eaten curtain of lace. Yawn...... ......zzZZ
