Draft Pours tar black with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent carbonation. Musky hop and charred malt nose. Also, some misplaced grapefruit and a hint of pine. Medium-bodied with a skim milk mouthfeel and jazzy carbonation. The flavor is decently balanced. Toasty more than roasty with mild rindy bitterness. Finishes crisp and lightly charred with a mild grapefruity hop bite.

8/22/11. On tap. Almost opaque black pour with a small tan head that lasts and laces a little bit. A surprisingly nice citrusy American hop aroma. Relatively light hoppy flavor with some citrus and just a touch of roast. If I didnt know, Im not sure Id guess this was a black IPA.

12 oz bottle, $1.95 @ Berts Better Beers, Hooksett, NH. I enjoy the Aromas of a Black IPA and this one in no exception. Light grapefruit, pine with a nice, roasted barley background. Thin off-white head with next to no lace on the glass. Taste is a well-balanced blend of pine hops, with a bit of floral hops and the dark roasted malt gives it an mild chocolate flavors in the background. Earthy pine in the finish. On the lighter side of the style. Light body. Has a good amount of drinkability.

Purchased at Fireside in Strasburg, PA. Overall, this was a very good IPA with a remarkable balance. Pours with a dark brown color, producing a moderate tan head, but with lacing that ends up being a bit weak. The nose is hoppy and malty: sweet, with florally scents accompanied by a roasted malt aroma. Likewise, the taste strikes a nice balance between malts and hops. Will certainly buy this one again

On tap at McGregors. This was a different take on the black IPA a bit lighter and with less roasted notes, with the biscuity maltiness combined with some hop floral and fruity notes. Heavily recommended by the bartender and he gave us samples 1st. Also he did a vertical with a more traditional black, the gritty, roasted/toasted grainy hoppy monster. Also note in the taste this was a bit sweet with a sour finish or edge.

12 oz. bottle, pours dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small tan head. Aroma is very mild - toasted nuts, roasted malt and only a light hoppiness. Flavour is also mild with slightly roasted malt and citrus hops, with a mild lingering bitterness. A little watery, but decent.
