Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Clear amber, rich head. Interesting aroma with dust, husk, flowers, hay and caramel. Medium sweet with some surprising smoke and above medium body. Malt driven and well rounded with some grain and butter. Low bitterness. Lovely quaffable beer in the festbier tradition. MiP (16054) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - MAR 25, 2007
Bottle, 5.4%. Quite malty and slightly dusty aroma. Very dark brown colour, not really bernstein IMO. Big, frothy light brown head. The flavour is rather malty, roasted dark malts. Also has a little smoked horse flavour. Rather good combination. Thin to medium mouthfeel and medium to high carbonation. Nothing exciting, but well-balanced and probably good for sessions. ante (3373) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 13, 2008
Bottled. at Monk Café, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear brownish amber colour with a big thick tan-coloured foam. Malty sweet aroma brown sugar, marzipan and toasted malts with touches of nuts, cinnamon, mild flowers and raw yeast. Grass, yeast, nuts and biscuits in the flavour with touches of fudge and toasted malts. Mild finish of grass and neutral yeast. asheft (3125) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2009
Slightly nutty aroma with slight dried fruit and slight currant. Also a slight spicy malt aroma. Clear red-brown with a lasting, eggshell-coloured foam. Relatively complex flavour that at first comes of smoky toffee; even bit peaty. Sweet dried fruit chase the peat smoke and give way to some hay and moderate bitterness. Slight chocolate note. Good balance. Light to medium body, medium carbonation, nearly crisp finish. Very interesting brew.
