500 ml bottle pours very dark brown with light brown head. Aroma of sweet malt, fruit, toffee, alcohol. Taste is well balanced. Very tasty. Toffee, oatmeal, sweetness comes through and has slightly bitter and dry aftertaste.

Nice Imperial Stout, enjoyed ever mouthful. Coffee, Chocolate and rich ripe plum. All the flavours delicately poised to deliver very nicely to the taste buds. Brewed local and enjoyed locally. Good Job.

Pwoah a lot going on here for a very reasonable 8.5%. Creamy, dense head - very trappist like. Good retention. Pitch Dark. A bit light on the nose, but big on the toasty, dark chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Doesn’t try to do too much and succeeds in making an almost session able style impy.

Pitch black color. Light brown head. Dark chocolate, licorice, molasses and dark fruit in the nose. Great depth. Mouth lacks acidity, but is pungent with hops and deep rich malt character, molasses, cotton candy, tons and tons of dark fruit, sherry, cotton candy and truffles. Seriously outstanding palate, but lacks a lot of roasted character. Seriously seems like barrel aged, there is so much going on here. This beer is ripe for barrel aging. Lingering dark chocolate, truffles, dark fruit and cherries in the finish. Insane complexity.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark mahogany with a frothy light tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is smoky roasted malt, light creamy caramel. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter with a roasty, slightly watery liqourice, coffee, light caramel palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

An excellent brew that is a local (antipodean) benchmark. Probably something I’ll be re-rating (on the upside) in the future.

Dark chocolate aroma on opening, great look pour with a lovely head, but neither of them made it past a few moments, There is a burst of alcohol that underlies this, and that pushes it to the sour side of balanced against the sweetness. But it is lovely with hints of fruits, toasted malts, and is thoroughly nice drop. cheers.

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. Aroma has roast, coffee, liquorice. Black coloured beer with a thin off-white head. The taste is bitter, bit sweet, has caramel tones, some chocolate, liquorice, light coffee tones there. Bit yeasty as well. Wasn’t too impressed.

Bottle. Dark brown color, brown head. Aroma of boozy coffee. Taste is licorice, toffee, dark cocoa, booze. Not bad.

it isn’t awfully complex, pretty much just roasted malts and rich alcohol (which tends to give off dark fruit and wine flavours), but it is still rather pleasant to drink and it has a beautifully smooth palate. so, pretty good.

I’m drinking this while cooking with Mediterranean spices, so I could be off here, but not for the first time I’m getting hints of cardamom sitting just on top of the licorice, which really works (Saudis drink coffee with cardamom, yum). Extra mark for being excellent value for money. A warming beer for a winter evening.
