Bottle. I have a cold right now, so my palate may be a little off. This poured a clear reddish amber with a nice vanilla-tinted foamy head that left some early lace. Nice aroma of toffee and toast, but again, my sniffer isn’t 100% at the moment. Palate is chiefly toasty malt with a nice candied orange note, and a surprising amount of bitter hosp balances out the finish. Very nice, and one I would like to try again once I get rid of this cold! Alasdair (76) - NEW ZEALAND - MAY 9, 2009
pleasantly earthy/musty aroma. Lightish body with a touch of caramel. Slighly roasted, almost smoky finish, with a nicely balanced finish. bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 4, 2009
Tried on tap at Cookies. Tawny, clear body with short lasting head. Slight grapefruit in the taste with supporting malt - caramel, and a light body. nate2g (1548) - Boomtown!, AUSTRALIA - APR 11, 2009
Draught. Pours amber with a lingering white head. Aroma of caramel malt, toast, fruit and earthy hops. The flavour is caramel, biscuit, fruit and hops. Great mouthfeel with a smooth and bitter finish. beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - APR 5, 2009

500ml Clear amber bronze, good head. An aroma with some (surprising) alcohol warmth touched with pine/forest hop about it. Tastes darker than it looks - a touch chocolate, earthy malts with a raw lingering hop finish. Reminds me of when I used to drink my dads beer what it tasted like. donfardz64 (538) - Wellington, New Zealand, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 24, 2008
Pours a clear deep red/oranage, white partly diminishing head. Chocolaty malt nose. Tastes quite chocolatey for a sparkling ale, sweet initially ending in a slight bitterness. TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 12, 2008
Bottle, one of the best looking beers that I have poured for a while. A brilliantly clear red amber with a large rocky off white head, and just a touch of that sparkling in the tall glass. A full malty aroma, slightly biscuity, plenty of caramal, but maybe a bit of cardboard. A touch of vegetable on the palate, low bitterness with an earthy malty flavour. Looks great, but didn’t quite live up the viewing. Though this is not a style I typically enjoy.
