UPDATED: MAR 15, 2007 Retasted 15/03/2007. Slight haze. Pungent caramel. Quite astringent - hot in the throat on lingering in the mouth. Grain or sparge problems? Everything else similar to below. Dropped from 3 to 2.7. Tasted 13/08/2006. 500ml bottle from Island Bay New World.
Burnished gold, bright, with a lightly lacing white head. Caramel and lemonade on the nose, with a musty background note of mealy red apples. Toasty malt and grassy bitterness dominate the mouth, with a lingering herbal hop note. Carbonic dryness doesn’t allow everything through. 500ml bottle, Wellington. Caramel aroma with faint floral hops in the background. Amber colour with minimal head. Light sweetness, medium body, fizzy, with a bitter finish.
