Epic by name, epic by nature, this Farmhouse Ale is a transcontinental fusion of Belgium’s eclectic beer culture and the feisty hops of North America brought to life with the aid of West Country artisanal brewing wizardry and judicious use of the US-grown Sorachi Ace hop. On the nose, the hops deliver a big splash of tropical fruit, followed by ripples of well-seasoned spiciness spreading outwards. In the mouth a tangy, bittersweet fruitiness holds sway, while tangerine oranges tap dance their way across the tongue in the finish.

Heidbummer (986) - SCOTLAND - JAN 14, 2018
Pint, Empress of Broughton Street. Pours hazy gold. Soft wheat and citrus aroma. Very fresh and bright. Lots if dry hop taste with some Belgian yeast in the back. Very drinkable. Perhaps more wheatbeer than Saison but good stuff.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2017 0.33 l bottle brought by Višnja and Goran Pilot from Paris. Thanks! Opaque golden, small off-white head. Spicy, fruity. Funky, dusty, herbal, citrus. Light body, moderate carbonation, light finish.

Kavu (5256) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 21, 2017
0,2l on tap @ Angleterre. Pours cloudy yellow with a low head. Aroma is slightly fruity malts. Flavor is thin watery malts with some tart notes and some hops. Bleh. Perhaps not in the best form any more?

Bottle at Zizi. Medium saison with a lovely foam head subsiding. Scent is quite light saison. Taste is surprisingly alpha medium hopped around 40 IBU. Actually quite a straightforward IPA in taste. Yes a bit peppery. Good.

Deep yellow with minimal head. Yeast and almost lager-y aroma. Taste is dry, with orange, some herbal notes and caramel. A bit too much of the sorachi ace coming through, and a fairly short, bitter finish. Medium palate, a little bit oily. Very little saison funk. Not what I was expecting - drinkable but not great.

Ascelja (1899) - Neratovice, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 11, 2017
Tap. Lightly hazy, dark gold, medium white head. Aroma of yeast, flowers, alcohol, brett. Tasty is dry, lightly sour, bitter and tart. Flowers, wood, alcohol, brett. Fuller body, medium to high carbonation.
Very good brett-saison.

Rotin (1907) - Neratovice, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 5, 2017
Draught at BeerGeek Bar. Almost clear, deep gold colored. AROMA- pleasant, white blossoms, alcohol. FLAVOR- dry, sour, bitter, citrusy, malty, flowery. Light to medium bodied.
Very good.
