Bubbles + Apples + Wild Yeast photo (16) Named after the ancient Greek goddess of beer, this is an equally divine Belgian-style saison with a copious amount of New Zealand hops, freshly harvested Somerset apple juice and wild yeast added to the mix. However, we like to take things just that bit further (it’s the Wild way!) — once bottled the beer undergoes a secondary fermentation with champagne yeast, giving it a brisk spritziness on the tongue. Serve chilled in a champagne flute to allow the bouquet of playfully aromatic notes to be fully appreciated. Take a sip to enjoy a further cascade of striking and sensuous flavours alongside the carefree champagne-like spritziness. The long, dry finish is both refreshing and complex.

dambor (792) - Berlin, GERMANY - OCT 10, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 10, 2017 Pours hazy light orange with small head. Aroma: a typical saison aroma, with spices, oranges and a slight hint of funkiness. Taste: nice drinkable, with spices like white pepper appearing in the palate, at the same time nicely coupled with oranges and citrus. Alcohol dangerously well hidden.

Clear gold colour with strong frothy white foam. Aromas complex of champagne, elderflowers, red apple peels and pear, with slight zinginess of lime and lemon. Palate, medium-full body with smooth texture leaving a dry finish. Taste, sweet-ish of apples, champagne and cider as well as a mix of Saison and Belgian strong ale, has a nice malty backbone and slight citrusy zingy hoppy notes as well as vanilla and banana peel. Overall, a nice fresh beer with complex aromas and a mixture of stiles into one drink, easy going for the ABV as well as for style. Do recommend.

F: medium size, white, good retention. C: pale blond, hazy. A: a lot of saison spicy notes, bit brett, hay, fruity, peach, floral, cider, green banana, lemon, passion fruits, bit herbal, yeasty, grapefruit. T: saison back bone, bit cider, spicy, grapefruits, fruity floral, dry on the palate, alcohol is well masked and more noticed retronasaly, bit brett, hay, green apples, medium to full body, low to medium carbonation, not usual concept and the result is very good balanced beer, really enjoyed, 75cl bottle from Waitrose supermarket @ Albion Way in Horsham.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2017 Source: Waitrose (Bottle - chilled) Expectations: a champagne kinda cider worth the expensive price tag Were expectations met: No Findings: Firstly trying to open the bottle is complicated by the white plastic wax affair they sealed the bottle cap with. Thanks to a faithful Swiss Army Knife the white plastic thing was dispatched. All I can say is I have taken one sip and want to pour the lot down the kitchen sink. Its so overly complicated that it actually reminds me of my puke smell after a student night out over 20 years ago. I have taken a second sip and - well Is it a beer or a cider or a champaign? Its tastes like 'wrong'. It costs so much. It comes in a big bottle and there is so much of it left and its too gross to drink and I feel too guilty to pour it down the plug-hole - but I feel its too gross to drink. Well that will teach me - price and an eloquent description do not make a beer you will necessarily love - but hey I tried. Would I drink this again: No way PS: It went down the sink.

Bought a bottle for dinner with the family. It's a good aperitif, a nice alternative to prosecco on arrival. Crisp, dry, fairly hard to compare to other beers. Heavily carbonated. Definite wow factor from the bottle.
