Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento as Shadow’s Wild Black. Pours dark and ruddy with a slight creamy pinkish head. Smells like fresh blackberry. Flavor is sugary blackberry with a fairly nasty wheat? aspect? Or maybe rice and blackberry don’t go well together? At 8% I’m suggesting that this is flavored Natty Daddy. These big brewers just rearrange the plumbing and anything goes. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 9, 2013
12 ounce bottle from Wegman’s Leesburg. Given the Wild Red I had, I fear this. Pours a sickly purple color with a thin head that fades almost immediately. Note that I haven’t even opened the bottle yet, but that’s my guess as to how it’s going to go... Well, it’s more of a red color but I’m pretty much spot on. Aroma of big artificial berries, grapes and cough syrup. The taste is pretty much the same... berries, grapes, cough syrup, fairly medicinal. Thick texture, medium bodied, faint booze. This is even more of a train wreck than the other "Wild" beers. Nasty. slowrunner77 (12804) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 13, 2014
"Better than blue, slighly more fake tasting than the red, but a little more flavorful all the same (even if it’s generic and not really resembling blackberry). Had to try...won’t again. shrubber85 (11615) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Bottle. Blackberry and alcohol aroma. Purple color with mauve head. Very sweet blackberry flavor with moderate alcohol finish. Tastes like a generic fruit soda with cheap vodka added. Not as horrendous as the Wild Blue. BVery (11361) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Bottle. Deep purple pour with no head. Aroma and taste of a grape freeze-pop. A little boozy on the aroma, and some alcohol bite in the flavor. Doesn’t really resemble a beer, more of a fruity flavored malternative.

Bottle from Blue Dog. Pours turbid, merlot colored with fizzy pink head. Nose is earthy blackberry and red wine grapes. Tastes very sweet, with notes if blackberry, grape juice, and an odd finishing flavor. Light alcopoppy palate that isn’t complex. cubs (10714) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 21, 2012
Bottle @ home. Just another pos that I have to clean out of girlfriend’s fridge before I leave for Europe. What a gem. Deep purple appearance with a lavender head. Aroma is half purple stuff and half grape drank. Really smells like koolaid. Blackberry, grape juice, cough syrup flavor. Fucked up shit. I’ve had better mixed purple drinks in the dorm as a freshman. phaleslu (10652) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 7, 2012
Pour from a 12 oz. bottle at Microfest. I had to support jckp64, who was pouring this. Pours a deep purple color with almost no head. Cloyingly sweet blackberries, sugary syrup, and not much else. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a syrupy sweet mouthfeel. At 8%, this is going to get some sorority girls messed up. drowland (9057) - Georgia, USA - APR 27, 2012
4/27/12. My father randomly brought this down for graduation along with Wild Red - and what do you know, I haven’t had either! Dark purple pour with a small tan/blue-ish head that fades fast. Huge fake blackberry aroma - very sweet with a bit of tartness. Annoyingly sweet flavor with blackberry, which is quite fake. It tastes like a flavored berry muffin, much like the Wild Blue always has. Scroll past. jredmond (8626) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 2, 2013
Bottle courtesy of my real dad while in Georgia. Pours a deep purple body with thin off white/purple head. Aroma is super sweet blackberries and strawberries. Mouthfeel is thin with notes of blackberry, strawberry, black cherries, tons of artificial sweetener, overly sweet candy and horribly grainy lager notes.
