Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento as Shadows Wild Black. Pours dark and ruddy with a slight creamy pinkish head. Smells like fresh blackberry. Flavor is sugary blackberry with a fairly nasty wheat? aspect? Or maybe rice and blackberry dont go well together? At 8% Im suggesting that this is flavored Natty Daddy. These big brewers just rearrange the plumbing and anything goes.

Bottle from Blue Dog. Pours turbid, merlot colored with fizzy pink head. Nose is earthy blackberry and red wine grapes. Tastes very sweet, with notes if blackberry, grape juice, and an odd finishing flavor. Light alcopoppy palate that isnt complex.

Bottle. Blackberry and alcohol aroma. Purple color with mauve head. Very sweet blackberry flavor with moderate alcohol finish. Tastes like a generic fruit soda with cheap vodka added. Not as horrendous as the Wild Blue.

Rated on 5-06-2014 (Bottle) This beer has a smooth pink head with a long retention, transparent reddish body, fizzy, lively, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is heavy artificial berries, sweet and tart. The flavor is artificial berries, very sweet, lightly sour, and lightly bitter. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light bodied. The flavor of this beer is yucky tasting. Too artificial and it is a beer I do not recommend.

As a total copout, Im going to be posting essentially the same review for all 3 of the Wild + Color series beers because theyre all basically the same.

Wild Blue tastes and smells like artifical blackberry syrup. There are no distinguishable hops or malt tastes because the sugary, syrupy sweetness is completely overwhelming. This is high-powered, boozy, and synthetic. If thats your jam, go for it.

By the way, I dont like how theyve used a dog theme and a similar font as Flying Dog in a transparent attempt to trick buyers into this stuff.
