A creamy and toasty ale, brewed with oatmeal, five malt varieties and roasted barley. Hops include a blend of Cascade, Willamette, and Tettnang hops. This lush, full stout has a rich black color and a dry finish that is smooth and gently hopped.

Clear dark brown pour with ruby highlights and good dark tan head with some lacing. Aroma of oats, roast, and chocolate. Flavor is a nutty chocolate, with some earthiness. Medium body with medium carbonation. Nicely done.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown pour with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted but very sweet. Good amount of cream, caramel, chocolate, and some coffee. Flavor is creamy and roasted at the beginning with a creamy and sweet middle and a very nicely roasted and slightly hoppy finish. Only problem is that it is way too thin for my taste.

Bottle. Pours with a dark, almost black color. Aroma notes are much of chocolate and some coffee. Flavors are similar, roasted malts and chocolate but the body is a bit too watery. This takes away from the overall impression.

bottle. almost a black pour. aromas of chocolate, coffee, and some roated malt. Flavor is pretty nice and would be really great if it wasn’t for a bit of odd sourness. Some good chocolate and fruit notes.

BOTMC Selection: Nov. 2008: Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a dark brown body, topped by a medium head of tan foam, which mostly diminished with moderated lacing. Bitter and slightly watery, with a dry, bitter finish. Palate has a dark, roasted flavor, like a bitter coffee. The aroma falls short of my expectations, not quite there, taking a bit of coaxing to bring out. Overall, this wasn’t a sweet as I had hoped, though I would say that it meets it’s commercial description well enough.

A nice oatmeal stout. Aroma was decent. Sweet roasted malt and chocolate. Pour was a deep dark brown with a nice pillowy tan head. Taste was very full and sweet. Chocolate and roasted malt with a sugary bittersweet aftertaste. Nice carbonation and a chewy aftertaste. Nice beer and easy to drink.

It’s aight. Nose is the winner here. Lots of wonderful dark chocolate, even some dark fruitiness. Flavor is a little sour. It’s always tough to rate when the nose leads to complete disappointment. But this is a aight sweet stout.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. Best before 25307FX stamped on the bottle. Pour is dark black, cloudy, with only faint ruby highlights. Nice two inch tan head falls leaving behind streaking lacing. Aroma of slight roasted malt, some coffee notes and milkiness. Taste is a roasted maltiness, gentle pine hoppiness, chalkiness and the silky oatmeal. Element of hazelnut present too. The after taste has some bitterness, and lingering milkiness. Some earthy tobacco in the finish as well. Palate is creamy, medium to full, mouth coating. Nice stout. Thanks for sending this one my way Phil.
