8/11/15. On tap at Craft on Draft. Light amber pour, copper maybe, under a nice thick khaki head, good lacing. Nice aroma, some brown sugar, dark fruits, caramel, light Belgian yeast aspect, not getting much of the oak aspect. Nice flavor, sweet entry with dark fruits, brown sugar, candi sugar, caramel, dark fruits, Belgian yeast, light oak bite. Not bad. tightslice (1313) - Redwood City, California, USA - MAY 9, 2015
Bottle share at Evernote. Notes of sweet raisin and banana with cloves on cloves on cloves! Very interesting. b3shine (8875) - Indiana, USA - MAY 1, 2015
Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks DrSilverworm). Looks good; a cloudy amberish brown with light caramel head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of raisin, plum, and mild notes of Belgian yeast. Some caramel too. Tastes like it smells with a smooth medium full-bodied mouthfeel that drinks easier than 10.5%. Enjoyable. weihenweizen (3831) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - APR 16, 2015
Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle from jbruner into Trappist glass. Dark brown with red hues and small beige head. Aroma is light fruit, medium body, low/medium carbonation, and some small-bubble lacing. Taste is light fruit. Not very flavorful BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAR 5, 2015
Bottle. Murky deep amber pour with a small light cream head. Aroma is dark fruit, red wine - but not terribly strong. Taste is boozy right away, then kind of a blend (borderline muddled) of dark fruit, vanilla, more sweetness probably coming from the booze). This isn’t bad, but it just doesn’t seem to pull together all that well either.

Dark brown and hazy. Thin white head. Dull malty aroma. Smooth and dry with hints of tobacco and plum

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2015 12 oz bottle with a bottled on date of 12/2014 (revised and revised in July 2015). .
Poured with a good sized, somewhat creamy tan head over a clear, dark, reddish brown body. Fine lacing.
Aroma: over ripe fruits including banana, wet wood, and some clove and other spices.
Flavor: too sweet with a strong sense of artificial vanilla, over-ripe soft fruits, dark dried fruits and mild bitterness [earlier review]. Dark fruit and light vanilla-oak notes. OK bitter-sweet balance.
Feel: full bodied with medium carbonation. High ABV a bit too apparent
O: I’ve had this beer several times and am always disappointed given how much I like many other beers of this style. Not bad, certainly, and will probably be much more appealing to some others. LeRoytheAlien (55) - Kennesaw, Georgia, USA - JAN 11, 2015
Dark brown/amber with a small beige head, aromas of fruit, funk, and wine. Taste is smooth malt, phenols, touch of sweetness, and the finish is dry and clean. A great American interpretation of a quad. Travlr (24880) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 25, 2014
Draft at the source. Cloudy maroon brown color, huge beige head. Aroma of boozy brownies. Taste is boozy butterscotch, caramel. rollinsr (748) - Atlanta, GEORGIA - JUL 4, 2014
Pours dark ruby with a thin filmy head. Aroma is sweet with notes of wild cherry. Flavor evokes more sweet cherry with light malts. Very satisfying sipping beer.
