What could possibly be better than the combination of deep roasted malts, coffee, oak, and a smooth, creamy finish?

Ode To Mercy overflows with bold flavors woven into a very balanced and approachable beer that finishes with creamy lingering hints of oak, coffee (specially blended by Athens, GA’s 1000 Faces), and roasted goodness. Bright citrus hops peek through from time to time, adding additional layers of complexity.

Suggested food pairings: Barbecued chicken, Kielbasa, prime rib, cheesecake, English Cheddar Cheese, pate, and Munster cheese. 20SRM

GBBF. Cask. Light haze on this amber beer. Reasonable white head. Light dry palate. A little raw tasting pale malt with a trace of toffee. Mild orange hop provides balance but I found this beer to be too dry overall.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 3. Pours a rich, brown-amber with a small head. Rich malts in the nose, some caramel. Light to medium sweet flavor, notes of ripe fruits, light toffee. Medium to full in body with soft carbonation. Mild warming finish, brown sugar, caramel, booze, fruits. Very good stuff.

A: The beer pours a rather dark brown color with a bit of brown to it and a khaki head.

S: Starts off with an intense rubbing alcohol aroma and burnt rubber/tires. Some toasted malt and nuts along with a little bit of chocolate. The beer finishes off with more booze and some chile pepper.

T: Toffee and cherry cough syrup with a definite chile pepper flavor. Slightly spicy, but it’s more of the fresh/green pepper flavor. Hints of dark chocolate and strong metallic and booze notes.

M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: Almost as bad as Invocation, but a different sort of bad.
