Salmoniform (1272) - Sweet Home, Oregon, USA - MAY 31, 2014
Poured from tap to glass. Dark hue with brown creamy head. Aroma is smoky, chocolate, sulphuric. Mouthfeel is nice with a creamy medium body and moderate carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness with a sulphur astringentness in the following and smoke in the finish. Overall this is a decent brew. Brouwerij (959) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 12, 2012
On tap at Wild Mountain. Pours a dark brown with one finger of tan head. Nice lacing and decent retention, settling to a thin cap of foam. Smells nutty and malty, hints of oats. Flavor is nutty, roasted oatmeal, roasted malts, and a hints of coffee. Mild to moderate carbonation and a slightly astringent finish. Could be bolder and richer, especially on the oatmeal flavor, but not a bad stout. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 6, 2008
Pint at the brewery. Hard to guess that this is an oatmeal stout not told in advance. Heavy roast in the nose comes across like dark roast coffee, with a greenness, a note of dark, charred overripe plums, and a crunchy sort of granola smell and flavor - I guess that’s the oatmeal. Moderate astringency and typically weak body - seen in nearly everything from this brewery - take away from what would otherwise be a fairly nice straightforward hearty stout. luckygirl (1223) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 9, 2008
Draught at the brewery. FDGD 08. Beer is very dark brown. Head is small, tan, creamy/frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing, ultimately lasting. Specks of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is malty with light notes of roasted grain, cooked oatmeal, coffee; Hoppy with trace pine/resin notes; Yeasty with a light note of dough.
The flavor is moderately acidic, moderately bitter, lightly sweet with a long, moderately-to-heavily, repellingly acidic finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
