Had this poured from draft at FOBAB 2016 at UIC. Black with tan head. Vanilla creamy and boozy. Good stuff phaleslu (10553) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 19, 2013
Draft sample at FOBAB 2013. Pours a deep brown color with a small tan head. Plenty of barrel notes, with bourbon warmth layered atop caramel, roasted oats, brown sugar, dark fruits, and chocolate. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a rich, sweet mouthfeel. Definitely on the sweet side. But not a bad stout. crossovert (13727) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 17, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 14, 2014 Apparently its back from the dead. This beer is jsut not suitable for aging unfortunately. Sugar cocoa and oxidation notes with booze. Zeswaft (1776) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 23, 2006
(sad face) The normal Jack stout was fantastic, unfortunately they put it in a bourbon barrel. This wreaks of bourbon and tastes like it’s got some of the alcohol of it too. I’ve probably only had one or two other bourbon aged beers but this one is way over the top and not that enjoyable to me. csbosox (1229) - Prairie Village, Kansas, USA - MAR 22, 2006
FoBAB in Chicago. Dark brown, nearly black color with a khaki head. Aroma is roasty, coffee, oak, and vanilla. Kinda sweet with light roastiness and coffee. Thin, astringent, and light on flavor.

On tap at Goose Island Stoutfest. Black pour with a short ring of beige head. Sweet chocolate, espresso, and bourbon found the nose, but were rather subdued. Bourbon was stronger on the tastebuds than the aroma, providing nice sweetness and mild warmth. The heart of the flavor was dry roasted chocolate and espresso. Medium-bodied on the palate with fine bourbon highlights. Tasty and exceptionally drinkable brew! Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - FEB 5, 2006
FoBAB: dark brown, almost mahogany with nice tan head. Aroma has slight chocolate up front with all bitter black coffee. Flavor is completely dominated by the coffee. Couldn’t detect any bourbon whatsoever. And we all know my distaste for cofee. YourDarkLord (1800) - Urbana, Illinois, USA - NOV 14, 2005
Deep dark brown with tints of red. Foamy, creamy tan head with good lacing. Aroma was strong espresso roast with chocolate shavings and dried prunes. And the requisite bourbon notes. Smooth and full in the mouth. The flavor was a mocha latte with a wisp of bourbon. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - NOV 13, 2005
On tap: Lots of dark chocolate in the aroma with hints of roastiness and fruit. Dark brown with red hilights when held to the light. Big tan head with great retention. Lots of roasted coffee up front with hints of chocolate and bourbon in the finish.
