Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice roast and coffe with some chocolate. Flavor is again some roasted malt with a strange meatyness. Finish is watery but leaves a nice smokyness on the tounge. Its different, I’ll give it that. esjaygee (3906) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 1, 2011
On tap at Sugar Maple. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted darker malts, coffee and mild chocolate. Taste of roasted and sweet malts, mild coffee and oatmeal. Body is thin and creamy and it finishes up a bit dry and chalky. bseribeer (128) - Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2011
Good Stout from a real local brewery/restaurant. It’s only a few minutes from where I live, but I haven’t been to it yet. Go figure. Strong notes of chocolate and coffee aromas. Pours black with a very thin, tan head. Taste is rich cocoa, with an earthy, coffee finish. Somewhat thick on the palate. Overall, I think this is a solid stout. Carbonation fizzled out at the end, but for a small brew pub, I think this is pretty good. rubbishystuff (2537) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 23, 2011
Had at the pub. A rather dry Sweet stout. Roasted flavors, somewhat smokey. Not bad. Creamy a bit. Serving: Tap (Nitro I think) jlanning215 (363) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - APR 22, 2011
Mediocre. Bland and boring for sure. This is some nice flavoring going on but they dissapear is a second. The big kicker for me is it way to watery. Pours black with almost no head. Just weak over all. Has awesome potential but missing the mark on a few things. This finish on this is almost nonexistent. Unfortunate.

12oz can courtesy of dwm1034. Thanks! Pours a jet black color with a small tan head that fades quickly. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate. Medium-heavy body on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, roasty, coffee, a little smokey, with a mild bitter finish. A nice stout. chibuck (3521) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2011
12oz can... murky black with a light tan head, gone quickly... aroma is boring and light, chocolate, roast... really boring taste, ash at first, with a hint of chocolate... blah, not worth having again bpreo (2943) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - MAR 21, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 22, 2011 Not as good as I expected out of the can, but it was warm, fresh off the shelf, so I’ll let ’em chill this evening and crack another tonight.
After a second helping, I take back most of what I said above, this beer is a real wonder. Great job all around! dwm1034 (785) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 18, 2011
12 oz can...gift from Lyle...thanks! Pours dark with moderate head....almost black with reddish tinge to edges. Mild coffee / maybe some dark chocolate as well....decent flavor...not as ’full bodied’ as the promo...but a good one....have 5 more cans in bmst...will try again...and take to the lake for a sampler.... crossovert (13909) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 17, 2011
12 oz can.
It pours a thick, dark black with a frothy tan head that is short-lived and leaves a bit of lacing.
The smell is moderately roasty with hints of caramel, cocoa, smoke, malt, and alcohol. The smell could be heavier though.
The flavor is decent. It has a noticeable roasty flavor along with some basic white sugar. It is noticeably thin though which detracts a lot from it.
