this was reasonably solid. a welcome respite from the massively grassy hop harvest. balanced and reasonably hoppy. the local brewpubs make some damn good flagship APA’s (emmett’s, brass, onion). beervana (781) - Libertyville, Illinois, USA - JUN 8, 2006
(04.25.06) On tap at Onion Brewpub, Barrington, IL. Poured hazy amber with small white head. No discernable carbonation. Faint malt aroma. Light-to-medium bodied ale that started dry with malt/citrusy hop flavor. Finished with light hop bitterness. Good flavor and well-balanced. Though rather thin, this is a good drinkable ale. Surprisingly very very good. VERY hoppy. Could probably pass for an IPA. Grassy and citrusy. Tastes like a combination of American and European hops. Bitter and delicious. Probably the best beer they have. muzzlehatch (4959) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 31, 2005
Sample at the brewpub. Beautifully sculpted lacing and lasting head atop a pale, hazy amber body....gigantic show-stopping aroma of grapefruit, vanilla, caramel and oak, just about as delicious as any APA I’ve put my nose in....body woody, smooth, with lots of spicy hops growing and growing towards the pungent, dry finish...noticeably yeasty for the style. Tied with the hefe for my favorite here. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 12, 2005
Dark Yellow Coloring with White Ring. Wet Hop Aroma. Hops Seemed to Dominate the Brew. Sudsy Wet Hop Taste and a Dry Hop Finish to It. Still a Very Drinkable Pale Ale.

Gold color with no head. Aroma reminds me of hops soaked in dishwater. Taste is primarily of pine with a weak malt base. Dry and bitter finish. frankenkitty (2012) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - SEP 12, 2005
Slight-hazed amber/orange with a white, ringy head. Aroma was heavily-herbed with honey, lemonade and oranges. Flavor was lemon-tea bitter and rather one-dimensional... but it was a fine dimension. A damn-good APA.

Clear dark amber body. Nutty caramel malt aroma. More caramel sweetness in the flavor with nutty components taking a back seat. Leafy hops are present. Meh. SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 14, 2005
Orange in color with a thin head. The nose is full of hops and grapefruit. Pretty solid. The taste is just about the same. some copper and fruit skins. Pretty solid APA. Arnie (274) - Chicagoland, IL, Illinois, USA - JUL 26, 2005
Crisp nose with lots of hops. Great hoppy flavor, as far as American Pales go, this one’s towards the better side of the spectrum.
