chocolate, coffee, roasty, full body, creamy, soft carbonation, long finish, neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 14, 2010
On tap at the brewery, served in a shaker. Pours black with a small light brown head. The head fades quickly and leaves lots of fine lace. On the nose, there are aromas of herby hops, roasted malts, coffee and grains. The flavour begins mildly sweet, balanced with slightly bitter hops. It becomes quite dry and minerally towards the finish. The finish is medium in length and malty. On the palate it is full in body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice stout but nothing to write home about. The malts could be more complex. 2010-11-14 andrewjschell (5) - Calgary, CANADA - SEP 10, 2010 does not count
On tap at the brewery. I really like this stout - roasty and flavorful for a "normal" stout. Needs to be more widely available. TheHulk (486) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 18, 2010
I had this at the brewerey on tap and just now from a party pig. Deep dark roast malts in the smell, almost does have an oil like-ness in the smell. On tap there was a great head but not from the pig. Its pretty flat, but does have some lacing. Taste is slow to build, almost can’t taste it until you swallow, a slow crescendo to the dark malts and oily sweet thin flavours, but not too thing like a proter, just thick enough to convey all the dark tones and bitterness. Very very nice. PUT THIS IN BOTTLES AND SELL IT ALREADY WILD ROSE!! Macadem (103) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 11, 2009
Plastic Party Pig mini keg.Pours pitch black, with a thick off-white to brown head. This beer totally reminds me of smelling mocha ice cream!! Delicious! Smells of chocolate, mocha, espresso and cappucino. Tastes like it to, way more than i was expecting from this. Tastes of chocolate, oats, and bitter espresso. Very thin mouthfeel though unfortunately, which is surprising and disapointing considering the color and density of the head.

Draft at the brewery. Pours deep inky viscous black, with a thick creamy tan head. Nose is hickory smoke, coffee, chocolate, roast malt, fruit. Palate is quite fruity, more roast, mild chocolate. Very good. Powertrip (1000) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 9, 2009
Terrific look to this beer. Black as night with a thick mocha head that lasts forever. Very unusual nose....bbq sauce and baked beans dominate the malt. Taste hints with caramel then displays a much to subdued layer of malt. Mouth feel is disapointing as this beer looks and should be much thicker than it actually is. Finish is long and strong and finally showing some signs of oatmeal. I want to know what happened to the body of this beer? It simply doesn’t arrive till the finish! FRom a party pig. Looks as black as the night. Strong aroma of roasted malts. Flavour is very malty characterised by chocolate and particularily in the finish. This is a great stout. hobbersr (690) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 10, 2009
Sampled at Wild Rose brewery. pours dark black with only a hint of red. The brew master gave me a L.E.D. flashlight to try to see light through it and I could not unless I held it to the very edge. Has a mocha coloured head that leaves rings all the way down my glass. Aroma has tar, mixed with chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Tastes fairly smokey with dark chocolate, black coffee, oatmeal, and loads of tar on the finish. Really thick, bitter-sweet stout. Great carbonation. Mouth coating goodness. I brought home a party pig of this because it was so good. patricks110 (2494) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 20, 2008
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2009 Had on tap in the taproom as well as at the Palomino downtown. Absolutely magnificent. A wonderful beer from Wild Rose. Jet black...creamy tan coloured head. Aroma of malts roasted extra long. Burnt flavours ad hint of oatmeal is present. I would love to drink this beer all the time.
