3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml bottle pours an orange color with 2 and a half fingers of white head that retains well and leaves some solid lacing on the glass. Aroma is a fresh hoppy aroma dominated by pine with hints of grapefruit and cereal grains. Taste is a bold grapefruit bitterness with a fruity sweetness, which is well balanced. Medium bodied with some decent carbonation. This is probably the best offering I have sampled from this brewery to date. More filling and tastes great.
Bottle. Okay, how the fuck is this scoring so low within style? I call BULLSHIT because this is one solid double IPA. Redolent with piney coniferous hops, the body is oily and resinous, with an excellent malt bill to boot, not at all chewy. Fresh and full of thick oily hop juiciness, finish is somehow only moderately bitter, which for me lent it some dangerous drinkability. I thought this was outstanding actually. Tap at Charcut. Pours clear orange with a large, creamy off-white head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is pine and citrus hops, peach and pear esters with biscuit malt. Flavor is medium hops and bitterness, supporting malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. JorgeLee (2117) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2013
Tap at Charcut, Calgary. Bright amber colour, thin white head, quite high carbonation. Hoppy aroma. Well balanced beer, good malt background, fruit and pine hops, aftertaste pleasant but not super bitter. Hides alcohol well (even on the menu, where it was on at 6%). Well made solid IPA. robdoerk (13) - Okotoks, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 24, 2013
Aroma is combination of grapefruit and pine hops, very forward and pleasant. Amber colour, cloudy (dry-hop), with a thick and fairly persistent white head. Lacing is excellent. Flavour is primarily hops, grapefruit but with a pine background. Malt is subdued, but comes through as bready. Moderately high carbonation which works well in this beer. Medium body with a moderately high bitter finish. Overall, this is a very well-brewed IPA; very drinkable. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - MAR 2, 2013
Pours a hazy golden colour with a lasting thin head leaving great lace. Aromas of citrus, and a decent sweet malt back bone. Flavour is mostly citrus(grapefruit), and a well balanced sweet malty profile. Great offering from Wild Rose!
