Growler from the brewpub. Pours a near black color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, a faint bit of green apple. The taste is roasted malts, coffee, bitter hops, mild green apple note. Thin-medium bodied, lingering bitterness.
Taps translucent reddish coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma presents roast malt and mocha tones. Flavor adds a hint of molasses to the mix. Body is thin for a stout, and fizz is average. Howl for one. hopscotch (11051) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 22, 2015
Can... Pours so black I have to hold my glass up toward the scorching, south Florida sun to see its beautiful, clear, crimson hue. Huge, frothy, well-tanned head. Fantastic retention. The olfactory focuses are dark chocolate and deeply roasted malts. Medium-bodied with gentle carbonation. The flavor features charcoal for the most part with a bitter, burnt element that lingers long after each sip. Bottle courtesy of ygtbsm94! BeerdedDave (1685) - Beckley, USA - SEP 8, 2015

on tap @ Wild Wolf / Nellysford VA --- Opaque dark brown color, brown head cover, sheets of lace. Taste is full-bodied toasted bitter malt that adds carbonation on the swallow, light hops at the end. Surprisingly heavy for a 4% brew. Quaffable, but not quite balanced or interesting enough to be a keeper. Travlr (24315) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - SEP 3, 2014

Black/brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is roasty malt and coffee, and a touch of chocolate. Dry hard coffee flavor. A hard malt like bitter that reminds me of black patent malt. Light medium body with ok carbonation. pretty solid beer Jonvision (4) - Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA - FEB 26, 2014 does not count
Wild Wolf and itís Dry Stout. Wild Wolf has by far my favorite stout in Brew Alley Virginia. When you first see the stout it has an awesome awesome dark color. Unfortunately the head is a bit lacking and not quite as thick as I would like it. It also doesnít have a strong smell to it, chocolate/coffee/roasted hops, anything. So Iíll have to deduct a few points there. The taste however greatly delivers! It is absolutely delicious and I could drink it all day. It is slightly hoppy, but with a smooth sweet buttery finish that I love. The carbonation is slightly lighter than their other beers but that is expected and spot on. Overall this is a great stout and Wild Wolf should be proud of this one.
