Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, relatively quick-dying tan head that only shows a centimetre tall off-white head on top. Aroma of bunches of very fresh strawberries, light malt, a touch of toffee and earth and a dose of toasted malt - very nice aroma, perhaps one of the best fruit beers i've smelt in a while - all strawberries! Light to Medium-bodied; Good balance of roasted malt, a touch of coffee and cacao/chocolate and a bigger dose of strawberries with a big hit of sugars and toasted malt at the same time. Aftertaste shows some chocolate and coffee notes with a grassy and earthy finish along with a dash of grain and bitterness at the tail end. Overall, a very nice and incredibly balanced fruit beer with a good and very fresh strawberry flavour and only a dash of the more pungent and noticeable caramelised and toasted malt. Nice to sample and definitely worth a try, especially if you can find it, otherwise it may be worthwhile to try to find this one, if you can, as it is very good, especially for the style. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Springfield, Virginia on 15-December-2017 for US$5,49 sampled at home in Washington on 07-January-2018.

As intended, a sweet strawberry fruit beer that isn’t quite balanced out by the roast of the schwarzbier. The effect is more of strawberry and coffee than the toasted malts of a chocolaty stout. Interesting, but not a harmonious outcome.

Pours a translucent dark brown with a nice off white head. Aroma is subdued strawberry and roast malt. Taste is sweet strawberry, and roast malt. A sweet malt finish.

Poured from a tap into a tasting glass at the Oceana Beer Festival. Much darker than expected. Small head but average lacing. Strawberry nose, not overwhelming fruit taste though.

22oz bottle pours a muddy black with some creamy, cream colored head. Nose has dried strawberry, chocolate, malt, toast. Flavor has mild strawberry and bubblegum, chocolate, toast, malt. Dry finish. Not bad.

Cybercat (6340) - Georgia, USA - JUL 16, 2016
Pours barely translucent mahogany with a nice buff head. Aroma offers strawberry, roast malt and subtle charred wood notes. Flavor features strawberry, roast malt, and shy chocolate notes plus a bit of charcoal. Mouthfeel has average body and lively fizz. May the Schwartz beer with ya!

Draft. Aroma is sickly sweet strawberry, thoroughly off-putting. Flavor is, thankfully, milder than nose, with the forward strawberry eventually giving way to cocoa and some faint roasty coffee. A smidge too much berry, still really good.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into glass. Clear medium brown with no lacing. Aroma is strawberry with some poop, medium/light body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is cocoa and some strawberry.

Bomber from Kroger, in the $5.49-$5.99 range. Pours brown with a large beige head. Aroma of strawberries - like crazy. Ripe, sweet strawberries, perhaps a bit of candy. Taste is interesting. Strawberry, but not too sweet, on top of roasted malts and nuts. Not bad at all.

3.5
chinchill (5377) - South Carolina, USA - NOV 9, 2015
22 oz bottle into a Belgian snifter. Appearance: A short, light tan head with decent retention tops a dark, clear, red-brown body. Minimal lacing but nice ruby highlights when held to the light. Aroma: Light, sweet, ripe strawberries float over a dark roasted malt base. There’s a faint hint of chocolate and some alcohol esters. Flavor: Hits the tongue sweet but enough hop bitterness kicks in almost right away, leaving a bitter-sweet flavor thereafter. Good use of strawberry which comes out immediately but quickly gets mixed in good balance with the hops and malts. Hints of roasted nuts and toast. Feel - Moderate carbonation; medium body. Overall: a nice schwarzbier with a judicious addition of strawberries. Neither too sweet nor too fruity.
