Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, roasted grain), with a note of vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly chalky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
A quite sour and simple, cocoa powdery affair. Not as bad as the IPA, but clearly this brewery needs some work. drjay44 (3797) - Salida, Colorado, USA - FEB 6, 2014
Taster at Brewers Rendezvous. Pours a thin off white head, over a slightly cloudy dark brown (SRM 30) body......nose is vanilla, chocolate, light coffee from the malts, minimal esters and hop tones.......taste sir cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, finishing with mild bitterness. This is a nice variation on a quite standard style. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7 brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 8, 2013
On tap @ Wild Woods. Dark brown, almost black, pour with a khaki head. Really sweet chocolate and marshmallow aroma. Roast, graham cracker, grass, and a bit of ash. Lots of roast, ash, and tons if chocolate. Marshmallow, graham cracker, and licorice. A bit thin. bubbleflubber (2235) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - JUL 19, 2013
On tap at the brewery, this pours coa to the glass with a light tan ring of suds lace. The nose is of vanilla and figs. Lots of vanilla and woody caramel, with a toasty grain finish. Smooth mouthfeel and medium-bodied, a delicious evening porter.

On tap at Wild Woods poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, burnt carmel, cocoa and ligt smoke. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, burnt carmel and cocoa with a smooth lingering cocoa finish. onceblind (10297) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Dark dark brown, nearly black, with a thin light beige head. Nose has some roasty chocolate and lots of caramel with the littlest bit of coffee and vanilla. Flavor has much more vanilla, to my delight. Also has big notes of milk chocolate, small oak tones, gentle roastiness, and a nougaty sweetness. Very charming. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 22, 2013
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of roast, coffee, chocolate, slight grass and nice pine notes mix into a slight earthy and spicy middle, slight touch of caramel and toffee. Taste is a nice mix of caramel, toffee, roast, chocolate, and coffee mixing into a pine and almost minty middle, hints of earth, spice, finishing fairly bitter, dry. cubs (10693) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 20, 2012
Tap @ Wild Woods Brewery. Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a decent sized brown head. A lot of vanilla and chocolate in the nose. Honestly, I thought the woody, vanilla notes were natural until it was pointed out to me that there was added vanilla and aged in oak. A bit spicy, dark chocolate, vanilla, slightly roasty flavor. The best that I had there. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 20, 2012
dark brown body. milk and vanilla and roast in the nose. fizzy carbonation, watery, flabby texture. your typical roast / chocolate / coffee character with some sourish wood and lactic milk notes. amateur-level stuff.
