2.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2013 On tap at Maxwells. Where’s the hop aroma? I assume a DIPA should be popping in hop aroma? I did appreciate the complexity of the hops in the taste. This isn’t a "grapefruit" bomb. Thankfully it wasn’t too sweet & there was a bitter backbone to the beer; yet the malt was really one dimensional. Out of all my friends I think I was the kindest to this beer.
Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Caramel and grapefruit flavor with pine. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Caramel and grapefruit linger with pine. slowrunner77 (12594) - Reno, Nevada, USA - NOV 10, 2015
decent IIPA - hop forward, floral and lots of orange. Semi sweet with a bitter finish... Strykzone (7581) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - SEP 16, 2015
Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A nice off white fluffy head leaves thick lacing. The beer has some haze and is honey golden. The aroma is floral and tangerine and is pleasant. First sip is like fruit juice and also brings some pine along with that fruit. A little bit of honeysuckle. Bitterness is moderate and far from the level indicated in the description. Mid glass I tasted some brown sugar and then late I tasted some grapefruit with the bitterness it brings. I never did taste alcohol and this was very easy to drink. Dangerous stuff. Good stuff, too. hayduke (5619) - Eureka, California, USA - SEP 16, 2015
This one was shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours hazy copper with a rocky beige head with excellent retention. Beautiful lacing rings. Nose is citrus and floral hops on a nice caramel malt base. Medium to bold body with a very resinous mouth feel. Alcohol well hidden, a plus. The flavor is well balanced. There is fruit, including tangerine, citrus, floral flavors, and good rich malts. The finish is dry and bitter. This is not the usual west coast DIPA so citrus forward we see so much of but more refined. This is a very easy drinking beer. I like it a lot. bhensonb (15619) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 3, 2015
Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours light bright copper with a small beige head. Aroma is floral and citrus. It’s strong, but doesn’t suggest a particular "floral" scent. Med + body. Flavor is somewhat malty, but the hop is floral, and justifies the high IBU. It’s bitter, but not as bitingly so as the usual NW hops would have made it. The bitter really persists into the long finish. On the sides of the tongue too, which seems appropriate. Good drink. Really good. In the end there’s enough malt to be very noticeable, but it’s still pretty much towards dry.
