Bottle at 6.3% in Gare Du Nord, Paris. Very brown in color, aroma and flavor. Worth a try. Note from 10/19/2004.

From bottle, @ beachpub Boulogne s Mer. Brown color, thin beige head. Aroma sweet, caramel malt. Medium body. Taste sweet, caramel malt, some nuts ? Very regular brown ale.

Bottle at Blauwershof, Godwaersvelde - Joris’s leftovers - thanks. Dark brown. Smells of soap and wood. Cardboardy. Oxidised woody flavour. Sweetish. Some liquorice on the finish. Seems old but it isn’t. Not an enjoyable experience. No idea what style it is.

Medium cream-brown head on reddish, Coca-Cola coloured beer. Vanilla-sweetish nose, nutty, slighlty oxydized malts. Sweet-molasses & dark candi sugar. Sweet (if not too), but obviously oxydized sample, although well before BBD. Nutty, "biscuit" flavours. Milk chocolate, almonds & liquorice warming up. Soft, creamy, texture; despite the 6.3 % I seem to get some warming. Sweet, and obviously prematurely aged sample. Then again, Kronenbourg...

Aarleks (409) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - DEC 3, 2007
Bottle: Very dark brown with lots of bead in the glass. On oddly nice dark, possibly caramelised apple aroma is totally out of sync with the rest of the tones this beer produces. In the mouth dark grainy flavours dominate with a subtle black pepper finish. There’s also a warming alcohol hit very late. Nicely balanced.

Darker brown coloured with some light carbonation and a medium off white head. Malty, little roasted aroma, sweeter touches. Full palate. Finish little malty roasted, smouth and little sweet. not excellent but good.

[Sampled in France, 2004.] Notes of nuts and brown ale ingredients, but it’s a little watery and in the end it seems a bit boring.

Hildigöltur (5103) - København, DENMARK - APR 8, 2007
Bottled. Reddish brown coloured. Aroma of roasted malts and ripe fruits. Sweetish malty and fruity flavour with notes of caramel. Medium bodied.

yngwie (17234) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUL 23, 2006
Bottled. Clear, reddish-brown, with a small beige, almost tan, head. Roasted malt, caramel, some hops and hints of dried fruits in the aroma. The flavor is mostly roasted malt and caramel, and the finish has hops, sweetness and a vague hints of coffee. Medium body. A pleasant, but a bit boring beer, reminding me of the strong norwegian christmas beers. (060709)

KarmanGhia (276) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 31, 2006
Wilfort is a bearable dark lager, but the sweetness up front never really develops, as there is a noticable gap where the hops are supposed to be found. The picture is accurate for the pour, but the head diminishes rather quickly.
