A rich dark ale, dominated by the strong flavours of blended roast malts that are the foundation of this beer. Smooth coffee and chocolate undertones are complemented by the addition of late harvest cone hops, giving a lovely blackcurrant aroma.

Very dark with reddish tones, and a light beige head, good malt flavor and bitterness.

Bottle. Dark, almost black. Roasted malts, unsweetened espresso coffee and bitter (rather powdery/dusty) chocolate, with hoppy bitter edge. Some fruit (berries). Dryish finish. Impressively full-flavoured for its low ABV. (2008)

En god mørk øl. Ale i den dunkle ende. Den har en helt klar smag af chokolade i eftersmagen, ellers en mørk ale efter bogen. Men meget behagelig i smagen, en rigtig nyde-øl.

Russo (2011) - Hemhofen, GERMANY - JAN 21, 2016
Dark brown color with a little red reflex against light, head is beige that not last longer. Aroma is toasty, coffee, hints of nuts and liquor. Flavor is also roasted and coffee, light notes of brown sugar. Medium to full body with a thin texture and average carbonation, sweet finish.

Bottle at home split with Sarah. Caramel brown coloured pour with a lasting tidy light tan head. Aroma is nutty toasted grains, berry, jam on toast, sweet dried fruits. Slight musty roast on the nose. Flavour is composed of earthy toasted grains, with a little dried chocolate powder, airy, dried fruits, raisin, slight tangy in the finish. Palate is medium light, airy carbonation, slightly thin, bit powdery on the the tongue.

ALLOVATE (3004) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - FEB 19, 2015
Tasting from Nov’ 2014.
At cellar temperature and into a shallow chalice. Dark as midnight brown with excellent clarity as to shimmer in the lights. Dense yet compact beige pad atop lasts the length with minimal lace. The nose is deep, complex and fringes on dank, dusty, cobwebs and stagnant water cellar notes through to hinting at charred meat and Biltong, kecap manis and roasted carob with just a touch of Vegemite™. Chalky and pasty, chocolate malt dominated palate; low in carbonation with a medium light body and soft finish. A little cocoa powder, roast carob and Vegemite™, vanillin and cola which melds as sort of a creaming soda flavour. Long chocolaty, dusty and woody length. A lot more clean and streamlined from the complex aroma. This is aromatic but not the most interesting of ales inside. Easily sessionable though! (50cL, BBE 01/15, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

kajser27 (1785) - Zagreb, CROATIA - FEB 10, 2015
Dark brown, almost black, small but lasting tan head. Aroma is very nice, milk chocolate, brown sugar and coffee. Taste sweet milk chocolate and caramel in start that carries it to a more roasted dry finish. Also some low roasted acidity is present. light to medium bodied.

Cantabrian (1114) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 19, 2014
The official description above is pretty precise. Thin palate and thin look, but amazing aroma and flavours of roasted malts, excellent dark chocolate and black currants. Nice and tart-sour, from that currant touch.

Butelka 0.5L.
Wygląd: Brunatne, niska do średnio obfitej, jasnobeżowa pian, lekko znaczy szkło.
Aromat: Ciemne pieczywo, przypalona skórka chleba razowego, karmel oraz niewielka ilość nut palonych.
Smak: Lekko kwaskowe, palone, ciemne pieczywo.
Odczucie: Wodniste, faktura kremowa, wysycenie średnie
Całość: Lekki sesyjny stoucik, bez szału ale jako codziennie piwko byłoby OK.
