Bottle from Tesco Danestone, Aberdeen. It pours jet black, with a thick beige head. The nose is roasted malt, smoke, caramel, liquorice and varnish. The taste is roasted malt, coffee, liquorice, varnish, wood, tar, dark cherry, caramel, treacle and burnt sugar, with a long dry-roasted malt finish. It is medium bodied, has average carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. A very flavoursome stout.

Bottled, 500ml from Tesco, Uttoxeter, Staffs. Dark brown with cream head. Quite a rich malty, roasty beer, decent fullish palate with a liquorice aftertaste. Good depth, liked it.

500ml bottle carried back home from the Cave in Glasgow and shared with Finn. Fawn-coloured head to a rosewood coloured body – very nice, indeed. Spotty lacing to the glassware. Grainy chocolate malts to the nose. Flavoured with semi-sweet chocolate malts, alongside notes liquorice and lactose. Rounded and dry ending with distant roastiness Pleasing (Tromsø, 20.09.2012).

Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding. Pours completely black with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma has good liqourice, roasted malts, some dark chocolate. Medium to low carbonation, light and a bit dry mouthfeel. Flavour has fine dark chocolate, mildly roasted, liqourice, oats. Lingering malty bitter finish.

Bottle at home split with Sarah. Clear black coloured pour with reddy hues in the light and lasting thin mid tan head. Aroma is smooth cocoa, booxy cake mix, toasted coconut, milk chocolate, porridge oats. Flavour is composed of smooth rich dark coco, smooth roast barley, some lactose sugars, oats. Palate is medium bodied, maybe slightly thin, slick, moderate carbonation.
