Midnight Sun is a black porter style beer, created from a blend of malted barley, oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt, balanced with a generous handful of hops and a wee bit of fresh root ginger. We really like it and hope you do too!

Pours jet black, tan coloured head. Aromas of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, spice, dark sugary fruits. Nice medium mouth feel, smooth from the oats. Taste is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, some fresh ginger and a orange peel bitterness. Very nice indeed.

Bottle. Black with reddish tinge. Very Malty; liquorice, roast malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, burnt sugar. Fruity; tangy, dark fruits. Spicy; some ginger. Hoppy; spicy, peppery hops. Fairly lively carbonation. Sweet roast malty taste with a sour edge. Dry mildly bitter finish. Nice beer! (2008)

Big brown head. Lasting brown head. Dark red-brown color. Big coffee, chocolate and rubber aroma. I dont find the ginger ( but as I usually dont like that it is for its good). Small sweetness and balanced bitterness.

Black with no head. Almost no aroma. Sadly lacking the ginger flavor or heat. Oily mouthfeel.

Bottle from Tesco. Pours a dark chocolatey brown. Very light tan head. Aroma has some burnt chocolate notes. A light note of balsamic. Quite meaty. Dark brown malted loaf. The ginger is there but providing some solid support. Taste is creamy with a cheap chocolate ice cream note. Ginger snaps. Bitter coffee notes. Cola. Medium length bittersweet finish. Slightly spicy on the palate in the finish. Medium to light carbonation and a medium to light mouthfeel. Potent porter with a twist that sets it apart....

I prefer March Of The Penguins but this is a common sight and usually a cheap, dark option in most Scottish pubs.
Pours a decent dark, clearish cola-brown with a soft fizzing brown ringed head. Nose is soft soily leather, pepper and light roast with some drinking choc notes later on. Taste is much the same - fairly clean with a roasy and spice edge on the finish. Carbonation from the bottle solid throughout, nice sweet kiss to the rounded mouthfeel on the linger.
