Snifter from bottle. A: beautiful, simcoe, slight pine, simply wonderful. App: gorgeous gold with a very slight amber hue. One finger, cream white head and nice lacing T: slight malt and sweetness, hops come through in the middle, and the finish is strong, bitter hoppyness with a coriander hint. P: full of crisp, firm bubbles from start to finish with a long lasting finish of dry, top hopping.

2015 BJCP Category: 22A Double IPA

AROMA: Strong orange aroma, some alcohol. Some clean malty sweetness in the background. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Flame orange hue, hazy body, visible sediment and CO2. Moderate off white froth leaves great lacing. 3/3

FLAVOR: Orange flavor akin to sweet peel rather than bitter peel. Some sherbet or candy-like flavors. Bitterness is strong and dank, but not syrupy or resiny. There is a firm malty backbone, but it is not especially sweet. Alcohol is subtle. Well balanced. 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-full body. Too thick to be crisp, but too carbonated to be syrupy. Alcohol warmth is minor and complements the palette. Very smooth and surprisingly quaffable (not a sipper). 5/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: An excellent overlooked DIPA. Kind of an orange bomb, but tasty, well balanced, and highly drinkable nevertheless. 9/10

22oz bottle thanks to Steveoj. Pours out a hazy gold topped with a small head. Nose is nice pine citrus hops and a nice malt sweetness. Taste is more of the pine citrus hops a nice light bitterness on the end.

A nice break from the lighter end of the spectrum. Medium amber, slightly cloudy. Pretty mild for a DIPA. Body, aroma, taste, all right in the wheelhouse.

5/1/16. Bomber. Labeled 8.2%. Pours a murky orange w a nice sticky head. Unfiltered and throwing lots of chunks. Drinks like a 1 1/2 rather than a double but that's not bad. Body but not too slippery a mouthfeel. Forward citrus hops and a strong bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at The Partisan. Nice cloudy orange body with slight head. Nose is hoppy, fruity with caramel notes. Taste is hoppy up front with citrus and pine. Bitter as well. Some really nice spices in there. Dry in the finish.

This beer is another reason why Alewerks is in my top favorite breweries. This literally smells like tropical orange juice. Like someone squeezed a handful of oranges, pineapple, papaya, mango and peaches then said "turn into a dipa now" Its so aromatic and intense. Taste is just like the aroma with a nice pop of bitterness that lingers around. There is so much flavor, and you can tell the quality of this as soon as you taste it. This one and Secret Admirer are absolute amazing tropical bombs and I highly recommend trying this beer, its worth every penny and drink it as fresh as possible so you can bask in glorious hoppiness. Cheers!

Unfiltered a plus. Light on hops. Nice beer. Nothing special but yet nothing missing from this.

Williamsburg, Va - on tap at the Alewerks Taproom. Hazy, light golden, silky snow white head, thick lacing. Juicy fruit gum, spruce in the aroma. Full-bodied flavor with some pineapple notes, a touch of citrus bitterness, trailing caramel sweetness. Decently thick mouthfeel. Saved the best for last in my visit to Alewerks.

Large Format - Cloudy orange color. No head. Lots of grapefruit flavors going on, some other fruit tastes as well. Hops flavor that is not strong and not a whole lot of bitterness.
