UPDATED: MAR 5, 2012 22oz bottle FRESH from grape & gourmet. so we’ve all been waiting patiently for our buddy Geoff at AleWerks to crank out a double ipa and he’s finally done it. super stoked for this brew so i’ve poured it into my AleWerks snifter and here we go with the first rating!
pours a beautiful, crystal clear, peach-gold capped by a rich, bright white, sudsy head that leaves sticky rings of lace with great legs. aroma is absolutely fantastic, amazingly crisp and clean, with fresh, juicy citrus notes of pink grapefruit, tangerine, and orange peel backed by notes of sweet apricots, peach nectar, and floral esters with subtle notes of dry grass and spicy pine esters emerging as it warms. flavor is magnifiscent as well with a huge blast of sweet apricots, tangerines, pineapples, and peach skins up front that mellow into grapefruit citrus, white grapes, and kiwi with mellow, toasted, crackery malts emerging just ahead of wonderfully unique, perfectly spiced, piney finish. palate is medium bodied with perfect carbonation and a masterful balance of tropical sweetness, pine spice, and grassy, herbal hop bitterness. overall, i may be an AleWerks homer but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is a world class double ipa that rivals the best i’ve had from either coast. bravo, geoff. bikeclj (19) - Virginia, USA - FEB 3, 2013
Ok no crap! If you can get thus beer fresh you will be blown away. This one can stand side be side with Pliny, Headytopper and the rest of the hop monsters. Color, clarity, aroma, flavor balance its all there.

This beer is another reason why Alewerks is in my top favorite breweries. This literally smells like tropical orange juice. Like someone squeezed a handful of oranges, pineapple, papaya, mango and peaches then said "turn into a dipa now" It’s so aromatic and intense. Taste is just like the aroma with a nice pop of bitterness that lingers around. There is so much flavor, and you can tell the quality of this as soon as you taste it. This one and Secret Admirer are absolute amazing tropical bombs and I highly recommend trying this beer, it’s worth every penny and drink it as fresh as possible so you can bask in glorious hoppiness. One of the best examples of a DIPA I have ever had. Bitter but not harsh. malt backing is great and truly an easy drink to get down.

Bomber from Grape & Gourmet. Holy hops! Clear amber pour with a slight eggshell head. Hoppy citrus hits the nose almost immediately after popping the cap. Resiny orange and tangerine aromas over a mild biscuit. Flavor is citrusy hop heaven without being brutal to the tongue. Love this! jivy26 (32) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - JUN 19, 2013
This is a local favorite..hops galore and malts help this become one of my favorite DIPA! zizzybalubba (1878) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - FEB 18, 2012
22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet (bottled February 14, 2012). Expected rusty orange pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine needles. Everything I would expect from the aroma; bitter piney hops, juicy grapefruit, and hints of pineapple. While bitter, this is addictively drinkable. Pliny The Elder, Sculpin, Double Jack, you now have company. Calvinroots (15) - Portsmouth, Virginia, USA - FEB 22, 2012
22oz from Grape and Gourmet. Poured a crystal clear amber orange color. Initial nose is pineapple, mango, and grapefruit. Lightly carbonated and little head retention. The further through it the more piney and resinous it becomes. The beer is delicious. Incredibly smooth for such a huge IPA. I feel it could be slightly more carbonated. It sticks with ya for a second and mellows right out. A fantastic IPA that deserves to sit on the top shelf of IPAs. Proud to say this is brewed just down the street from me. WOW! This is one fantastic IPA! Aromas are veritable herbal fruit salad. Tropical citrus fruit flavors waft across the palate finishing with a little bitterness. Overall a fantastic double IPA.
