COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Limited to 2009 bottles. A porter, to which rapadou (Carribean unrefined cane sugar from Haiti) was added (but not caramelized rapadou as in the Rapadou Porter) and aged for two months in Virginia Gentleman bourbon barrels. It is a complex porter, to which the flavors of vanilla and a little bourbon have been added as a result of the aging process.

2010 bottle A- Body is a dark brown nearly black opaque color. Pours with a 1-2 finger foamy off-white head. Head quickly fades to a thin collar but some lacing is left behind in the glass. S-Caramel and toffee are most dominant in the nose-this is followed by hints of oak and a slight alcohol astringency. T- A lot of alcohol and oak initially. Hints of caramel, toffee, and chocolate in the background. The bourbon really kicks in for the finish and leaves a big alcohol heat as well as a hint of alcohol astringency and roasted malt. M- Medium carbonation and a body with slight alcohol astringency. D- This one is still a little hot and boozy-but has nice complex undertones. Decent and a great bourbon barrel brew to try overall- but nothing that really amazes me. Overall good job done by this brewing co. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-12-2011 03:12:52 --

Nice all around. Dark dark pour, dark tan head. Aroma of the barrel, vanilla, caramel, light roast. Flavor is boozy but not overly so. Very nice sipper.

A very good bourbon barreled Porter. Pours a deep black with a thick brown head. Smells of bourbon, vanilla, ice cream and nuts. Taste is super thick, with lots of vanilla ice cream, bourbon, and some port in the finish. Had in the bottle.

Bottle share. Dark brown pour with a modest beige cap. Aroma is rich with bourbon barrel notes, sweet vanilla and fudge. A bit boozy. Big flavors of sweet vanilla and chocolate accented heavily by the barrel treatment. Lightly bittersweet, but mostly sweet. Definitely feels like a big boozy desert beer.

22oz bottle from share on 6/11/16. Dark brown, muddy pour capped off with a small beige, tight head. Barrel aging takes center stage in aroma and taste.Bourbon really brings out the smoky, chocolaty nature of the porter. Really knocked my socks off.

Bottle, from b3shine-- thanks Beau! Shared with Parksy and others on his birthday. Dark brown pour, copper highlights, low beige head. Lovely chocolate and bourbon flavours with woody undertones, rich and silky smooth, very full bodied. The finish is very dry, with assertive tannins and moderate bitterness. A well made, well balanced black bourbon brew.

Tasting at Ferris’
Black color, medium sized head. Aroma of alcohol and some Bourbon, eggs. Good body strength; chocolate flavor, but this one is really heavy on booze and Bourbon.
I like this kind of beers, it’s not really balanced though.
