Not my favorite porter.
12oz bottle thanks to obguthr Brewbie (479) - New York, USA - JUN 18, 2016
Pours dark brown with a small beige head, light lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and caramel. Flavor of dark malts, chocolate, metallic with a mild sour bitterness
12oz bottle, pours thick dark black, thin tan head. soft chocolate aroma, thick taste, milk chocolate, malts, some sweetness BiddleBrau (1221) - Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 15, 2016
A near black beer with nice tan head. Cocoa malt nose. Nice creamy palate, first some chocolate then finishes roasty. Sweetness balances roastiness. My type of porter. drfabulous (7816) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUN 2, 2016
12 ounce bottle thanks to ygtbsm94. Dark pour. Carbonation fades. Chocolate upfront. Some roast. Medium body. Decent. ChadPolenz (1804) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - APR 18, 2016
2015 BJCP Category: 20A American Porter
DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 11, 2016
AROMA: Dark malt, some milk chocolate, dark fruity esters. 9/12
APPEARANCE: Opaque black proper, no highlights. Small tan head evaporates quickly. /3
FLAVOR: Mostly standard porter palette. Some dark malt; cola-like taste. Lightly sweet. Faint roasted malt. No fruit flavor. Slight metallic tang. 12/20
MOUTHFEEL: Light/medium body. Mouthfeel is noticeably thin. Clean finish. 2/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Most likely this is an old bottle as it has all the makings of a traditional porter, just in restrained quantities. 5/10
TOTAL SCORE: 29/50
Poured into a pint glass. Bottle.
3.25 A: Black color. One and a half fingers of frothy light brown head. Retention was poor though I admit that the glass went through the dishwasher (against my will).
3.75 S: Roasted malts with sweet chocolate. Lots of caramel. Sweet overall, but not overly so. Quite nice.
3.5 T: Tastes good, but not quite as good as the nose. Roasty with chocolate again, but a lot less sweet than the nose suggests. Mild hop bitterness with a touch of earthy flavor. Caramel and a hint of molasses.
3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. A touch of creaminess and super smooth.
3.5 D: Solid beer overall.

From a bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Flavors of cocoa powder and licorice with some dank notes. Slightly bitter roast finish. BeerdedDave (1685) - Beckley, USA - AUG 18, 2015
bottle from the brewery; deep, dark brown color; sweet, roasted malt aroma; sweet, roasted malt flavor with mild coffee and chocolate notes; too sweet in my opinion rondphoto (4383) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - AUG 2, 2015
bottle @ Beer Run / Charlottesville VA --- Opaque black/brown color, long-lasting 1" brown head, sheets of lace. Nice aroma of malt and chocolate, maybe a little coffee & sugar. Taste is toasted malt that adds carbonation and clear hops on the swallow. Some malt hangs around to the end, but it is mostly the hops’ show. A good basic porter, but not exceptional. Pour from bottle. Brownish with big sl fluffy head. Malts and toffee make it chewy. Pretty decent.
