Jado (805) - Camp Hill, - SEP 22, 2016
640 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a sudsy tan head that disappears almost completely. Aromas of coffee, Cherry and a bit of chocolate. Taste starts out with an unexpectedly bright sour cherry note before a strong note of fresh black coffee kicks in. Some soft fresh fruit - pear maybe - at the end. Body is a bit light and the carbonation a bit too vigorous for the style but not a bad beer by any means.

ComradeK (1260) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - SEP 24, 2017
640ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a small light tan head, which fades fairly quickly and leaves a little lacing. Bacon, chocolate and berry notes make up the aroma. Mild floral and herbal hops up front give way to smooth milk chocolate and a little savouriness in the mid-palate. Brewed coffee to finish. A satisfying dark ale.

Bottle - pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is smoky sweet crystal malt. Taste is mix of roast malt and sweetness up front with a mild dry roast malt finish. Smells like old but tastes like a porter.

Black with a thin head. Like the aroma, roasted malts and smoky. Quite thin mouthfeel and dry finish. Makes it easy to drink but I prefer this sort of beer with more body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Greenslopes Cellars 091016. I’m not convnced that this is a brown ale - the only brown ale qualities that it has is that it is dark brown in colour. Quite a tart bitter beer and thin in the mouth. Hints of chocolate and vanilla in the flavour.

On tap at Willie the Boatman, pours a deep dark brown / near black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and bready malt. Flavour is quite light tasting, with dry cocoa and oats. Creamy mouthfeel but fairly boring. Meh.

Bygers (1184) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 25, 2016
Bottle 0,640l. Pours a hazy to cloudy black color, tan head. Aroma of burnt wood and acidic notes. Acidic, roasted malts taste. Acidic aftertaste. Light mouthfeel, low bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(On TAp) Black with short-lived tan head. Fantastic smoky aroma. Light body with very good carbonation. Surprisingly mellow. Little sweetness. Coffee notes. A little thin. Plenty of smokiness.Very quaffable and unusual beer.

Medium brown, medium head. Toasty nose with toffeeish character. Light toffee, soft, supple, moreish dark sugars.

TedE (1498) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - NOV 22, 2015
640ml bottle into shaker. Strong nose of milk chocolate and stale bread. Almost opaque with a thin tan-coloured head, good lacing. No carbonation visible. Medium body with initial weak fruit cordial taste. Finish brings in a slight smokiness and more fruit. It tastes more like a porter but it looks like a stout. Not bad.
