Tap. Pours a clear amber body with a minimal off-white head. The nose is light, but very clean with a dry toasted maltiness. Light on the hops. The flavor is pretty nice, better than average, dry toasty malt with a balancing light bitterness on the finish. Light to medium bodied, very easy drinking with soft carbonation and a lingering lightly bitter finish. Rather nice amber, kicks the butt of most efforts. Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates gradually to a film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of caramel malt and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, caramel and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall. Tap at the source. Pours clear amber with a small, frothy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is biscuit and honey malt, dates, and earthy hops. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. Travlr (25876) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JUN 23, 2013
Draft at the source. Clear amber color. Aroma of caramel. Taste is bittersweet caramel. blackmetaldave (2) - SAINT PETERSBURG, Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2013 does not count
Draft at Willimantic Brew Pub. Golden amber color and subtle nutty aromas make this beer quite appealing. Somewhat aggressive hop freshness and a hint of bitterness in the mouth feel reminiscent of a red IPA. Gorgeous complex malt profile takes over on the finish, with a nicely carbonated aftertaste. Great beer, would drink again.

On tap at brewpub. Pours amber with a small head. Aroma is quite malty. Flavor sits neatly on a sweet and slightly toasty note. I found this beer overly simple, that is, not much depth to the sweet flavors and minimal hop complexity. muzzlehatch (4969) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 23, 2007
Draught sample at the brewpub, early March 2007. Dark, cloudy amber pour with just the faintest wisp of a head lasting through the sampling....pungent hoppy nose, lightly smoky/toasty, not a lot of malty/bready character, fairly rough and hard....on the tongue surprisingly a buttery, cookieish texture establishes itself quickly, the hoppiness is quite muted, it’s fairly nice at first but a vegetal character creeps in quickly to weird you out.....peppery and fairly bitter to finish, low carbonation. Not one of the more stellar examples of this fine brewpub’s art. Cletus (6353) - Connecticut, USA - JUL 20, 2006
On draught at the brewpub. Pours amber with a small pinkish head. Smells malty with earthy hop elements. Tastes earthy with some peppery splashes. More hoppy then a standard amber but still on the bland side. Immy (1955) - Virginia Beach, USA - JUN 26, 2006
On tap at the brewpub. Nice, deep amber with a slight off white head. Sweet, malty aroma, slightly fruity. Lightly hopped, kinda run-of-the-mill, but a solid offering.
