On tap. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, grains, brown sugar, and some light hops. Flavor about the same. The oats and sugar add to this, but I wish there was more roasted malt and smokiness to this porter. Average texture. A pretty good beer. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 9, 2008
Pours dark brown and murky with some stray tan bubbles. Smells roasty with some light hoppy hints. Tastes bitter with some chocolate and peppery splashes. Decent. scraff (2121) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 26, 2007
Cask - Dark brown, zero head. Light nose of nutty oatmeal, roasted chocolate, and hints of black licorice. Watery coffee flavors are balanced with thin boozy chocolate tones. Light bodied, very light carbonation, soft dark malty finish. I’ll look past this one as just about everything else here rocks... AlKHall (161) - West Hartford, Connecticut, USA - AUG 19, 2007
Dark brown appearance with low carbonation. Bitter malt flavor with choc and coffee notes...smooth - a little light for a porter, but overall a great beer.... Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 9, 2006
Pours a deep dark brown/almsot black with a nice creamy tan head- not on Nitro. Roasty and chocolate malt aromas, with light licorice hints, toasted and nutty malts as well. Flavor is sweet with lots of caramel malts, but dried out and balanced with roast, chocolate, and maybe some black malts. Even with the added brown sugar and high abv, it still seems as though it is a regular strength robust porter. Very nice.
