Growler from the brewery. Malty, rich fruity nose. It’s got the bright, fresh yellow lupulin qualities in pine and tangerine, but then pushes it through with a good dose of maltiness. Flavors are good, focused on some sweet orange-y flavored malt and then plenty of warming, piney hops. A good balance, with good warmth. It’s not quite as hop intense as a lot of people might demand of the style, but it’s solidly a Double IPA and doesn’t confuse with Barleywine nor American Strong Ale and it manages to handle the malt/hop balance very well. A nice beer.
Draft at the brewpub. Darkest red I saw tonight, still only medium. Another seemingly out of sorts aroma with a hint of coffee. Definite toasted malt character, but seems extracty, if that’s a word. The beer I had this evening was definitely listed as containing different hops than those above. It was big and delicious. The booze when straight to your head. The malt profile was boisterous too,coming out in the finish with a vengeance.

Draught @ Brewpub. This one poured a dark, cloudy golden color (although it was a little dark in the restaurant). There was almost no head but some lacing. The aroma had lots of citrus, and a bit of pine. It was fairly full bodied, and had a very smooth texture. There was an underlying sweetness nicely balancing the hops. Growler. Aroma sort of musty and tea-like with tropical and earthy hop notes trying to poke out from behind. Flavor has a load of toffee and nougat, always sort of musty for me. Growler from the brewpub. Pours a murky dark orange with a small white head. Aroma of lots of citrus, grapefruit, and tropical fruits. Flavor of rich caramel malt and a nice citrusy finish and hop oils. Alcohol is well hidden. Quite tasty and very easy to drink. Great IIPA.

Growler @ Paul’s tasting. Poured a slightly hazed amber color with a beige head. The aroma is fairly hoppy with floral notes. Bready malt flavor with floral hop taste. Moderately bitter with a long "wet" finish. Medium bodied.
