EBF NOTB. Aroma of molasses, bretty and wild, bourbon, oak, and some citrus hops. Taste is all over the place. Molasses, funk, some sour cherry, some light citrus hops. Overall, this was quite a crazy beer- eccentric- didn’t seem to have much direction but the sum seemed more enjoyable than it’s individual parts. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 4, 2009
Pours brown with a thin off white head. Smells like an oud bruin with some nice residual sugar, oak, tarte. Tastes sour and eartthy with some nice funkiness on the finish. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 25, 2009
Tap at EBF. Pours a murky dull brown with a fizzy head. Aroma is slight funk with oak, wood, earth, very dry and leathery almost- hints of linseed- on leather, with some pedio sour cherry thing going on and a light heat from bourbon. Flavor is more oak- a bit jumbled with bourbon, vanilla, dark cherry pit- and cherry pie pedio thing going on, funky with light bretty horse character- light acetaldehyde as it warms with a mix of tons of different malts as well. A bit complex overall but also seems a bit messy and jumbled together. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 24, 2009
In short: An intense, tart, sweet, sour, bitter, oaky, boozy, wild, refreshing beer. Did I miss anything?Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - FEB 23, 2009
How: Tap at EBF 2009
The look: Cloudy orange-copper body topped by a small beige head
In long: I’m at total loss trying to describe this beer. Hoppy barleywine backbone, very wild/funky/bretty, american hops bitterness fighting with a funky acidity, wood, a flemish sour character with oaky sourness and all, some cedar, caramel sweetness nose-to-nose with funky tartness, whatever… I stopped taking notes, crazy stuff. It is tasty and it is completely out-there. Trying to categorize this beer is like trying to pigeonhole a feminist anarchist banker who propagates an pro-life message through death metal music.
Draft at EBF. Pours an amber body with a thin white head. Soapy, apples, lightly wood with brett, finish is dry with a fruity etoh warming. Mac apples. Good brew.
